Fans of Emmerdale will of course know that during last week’s landmark hour-long live broadcast, Carl King was murdered by Cameron Murray, however, as events panned out, both Chas Dingle and Carl’s brother Jimmy thought they were in fact responsible for Carl’s death!

But of course, though Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Jimmy did in fact cause Carl (Tom Lister) to have head injuries, they weren’t fatal, but the brick to the head that Cameron (Dominic Power) inflicted was.

Prior to the live show airing, the identity of which character was to die was a closely guarded secret – but we did of course predict that it would be Carl – so the other cast member weren’t permitted to discuss how they felt about losing Tom as a cast member.

However, now they of course can, and Nick Miles, who plays downtrodden Jimmy, has said that the on-screen death feels very real.

He told Soaplife, “I shared a dressing room with Tom Lister [Carl] and every time I go into work now there’s a space that reminds me of the loss… Read more & comment »

Celebrating forty years of the soap, which began life as Emmerdale Farm, tonight’s hour-long live broadcast promised “all of life” in its two weddings, two births and a death, and my goodness, it delivered, and then some.

Nobody put a foot wrong, and all the main players will surely be needing the services of a carpenter to build them a whole rack of shelves on which to place their awards…

Lucy Pargeter as Chas Dingle was simply breathtakingly good, as was Tom Lister, who of course played Carl. How I hate to be using the past tense for him now! Read more & comment »

Emmerdale: Chas Dingle tells Carl King she’ll run away with him on her wedding day!

As fans of Emmerdale will know, Carl King (Tom Lister) is blackmailing his former fiancé Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and her lover, Cameron Murray (Dominic Power).
