Fearne Cotton has admitted that she once presented Top Of The Pops knickerless.

The BBC’s music controller has said that it is unlikely that the channel will ever return Top Of The Pops to a regular weekly slot.

The BBC website reports that Andy Parfitt said the show will most likely just continue to air in “event-driven moments”, such as the recent Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Comic Relief specials.

He said: “It’s got a mythical status…but I don’t think we should get hung up on that one programme. We are a long way from [BBC1 controller] Jay Hunt recommissioning Top Of The Pops in its old-school form on BBC One.

The BBC announced today that Top Of The Pops will be returning to BBC One this Christmas with two special, one-off shows – one on Christmas Day and one on New Year’s Eve.

The Top Of The Pops Christmas Special is an hour-long celebration of all things pop.

Hosted by Fearne Cotton and Reggie Yates and filmed in BBC Television Centre, it will feature exclusive performances from some of the year’s biggest stars and will count down the chart to the all important Christmas number one.

It’s being reported today that the BBC are considering the relaunch of Top Of The Pops next year due to overwhelming demand from viewers.

The show aired for the last time in July 2006 when the decision to call time on the long running series came about after viewing figures consistently fell.

However, many big name music executives have said that they’re sure the show will be back on our screens soon.
