It’s looking like a great week’s viewing is coming our way so here’s Primetime’s picks of what to stay in for.

We kick off with the second part of Unforgiven on Monday at 9pm, ITV1.

This show got off to a really strong start last week and if you missed it, it’s well worth catching up on ITV’s player so that you aren’t out of the loop tomorrow night.

Suranne Jones is excellent in this role and this week, her character’s problems intensify as she struggles to keep hold of her new relationship and continues to search for her sister.

Another show that looks pretty interesting is Born Survivors – My 22 Stone Dad and Skinny Me which is also on tomorrow on BBC3 at 10:30pm.. Read more & comment »

Last night saw the start of ITV’s new three-part drama Unforgiven, starring Suranne Jones as Ruth Slater, a role that was specifically written for her by Sally Wainwright.

Suranne turned in an amazing performance, as did the rest of the cast which contained some of my favourite actors such as Peter Davison, Siobhan Finneran and Jack Deam who plays stuttering Marty in Shameless. Read more & comment »

Ruth Slater (Suranne Jones) has been in prison for 15 years after being found guilty of the murder of two policemen. Today she is being released. She has been in a low security prison for the past two years, so it’s not a huge shock seeing the outside world, but it’s still very daunting. Ruth reports into her probation officer and after being assigned a flat she’s given the details of her new job at the local meat factory in Halifax. In her new flat, she explains to the probation officer that she has a younger sister, Katie, whom she virtually brought up and loves deeply. She was taken into care when Ruth was arrested and despite frequent attempts, she’s heard nothing from her for the 15 years she was in prison. Will she be able to track down the sister who means so much to her?

Former Coronation Street actress, Suranne Jones, has revealed that she hated sporting blonde hair whilst she was filming ITV’s new TV series Unforgiven.

Jones told The Mirror: “I hated it. Friends thought I was having a mid-life crisis with this nicotine-yellow hair. I tried to go with the look and wore jeans and a check shirt. It was a vain attempt to look like Daisy Duke. But I looked a bugger!”

Compelling three-part drama, Unforgiven, which stars Suranne Jones has gone into production in West Yorkshire.

Written and created by Sally Wainwright and produced by Red Production Company, Unforgiven is the story of Ruth Slater (Suranne Jones), a woman released from prison on license after serving 15 years for the murder of two policemen.

Having spent half of her life imprisoned, Ruth now faces the daunting prospect of rebuilding her life whilst being irresistibly drawn to the place that haunts her, Upper Hanging Stones Farm.
