Vernon Kay was chuffed to get Bruce Forsyth’s blessing to host Play Your Cards Right

TV host Vernon Kay has revealed that he was nervous about asking iconic presenter Bruce Forsyth for his blessing to recreate his vintage show, Play Your Cards Right

However, he was delighted when Bruce not only gave his blessing, but also offered up some tips on presenting the show.

Speaking to the Sun, Vernon revealed that he’d had a chat to Bruce about the show while supporting his wife – and Bruce’s Strictly co-host – Tess Daly at the recent Children in Need appeal night.

Vernon said, “I spoke to Bruce when the idea came about and he was very kind. He is a great chap.

“He gave me a couple of pointers about how to work the cards and the contestants. He was really forthcoming.

“He gave me his blessing. It felt like I was at the gameshow Vatican!

Channel 4 announce new festive show, Home for the Holidays!

The lovely bods over at Channel 4 have just unveiled details of a new show – that’s to be hosted by the positively edible Vernon Kay – entitled, Home for the Holidays.

It’s a special show for Christmas which will air live as an engaged couple get to bring their families together for the first time.

And if they can survive being with their families in a luxury country manor house, they could win £500,000!

But of course, there’s a catch…

Each night on a live show, Vernon will present the families with a series of challenges and tasks, and he’ll throw in “tantalising twists” and “unexpected turns” which will test the families to the limit. Read more & comment »

Play Your Cards Right to return to ITV with Vernon Kay as host

Game show Play Your Cards Right is to return to ITV almost ten years after it ended. The newly revamped show will be hosted by Vernon Kay, who also presents Family Fortunes.

Bruce Forsyth of course previously hosted the show, which sees contestants having to guess if a playing card will be of a higher or lower value than the one preceding it.

A show insider told The Sun, “Dreaming up new game show ideas is not easy so bosses decided to dip into the archives.

“Play Your Cards Right was massively popular and it’s an easy concept so they figured, let’s bring it back.

“Vernon is the obvious choice as he’s made no bones about his love for Bruce and his desire to be his telly heir.”

Vernon Kay and Paul O’Grady to present ITV’s Through The Keyhole

Vernon Kay has been chosen as the presenter for a revamped series of ‘Through The Keyhole’.

It has been reported that the’All-Star Family Fortunes’ host will front the show on ITV1 with chat show king Paul O’Grady, in which they and a team of celebrities will be allowed to snoop through stars houses for clues on their identity.

A source said: “Vernon and Paul are the top choices to reinvigorate the show. The whole programme had become stuffy and looked and felt dated. This time there will be a lavish studio, amazing celeb houses and a real sense of fun.”

Tess Daly admits that Vernon Kay wants a son

Tess Daly has admitted that her husband Vernon Kay would love her to have another baby.

The TV duo already have two daughters, Phoebe Elizabeth Kay, 6, and Amber Isabella Kay, 1, but the Strictly Come Dancing host told Fabulous magazine that Kay is holding out for a son.

She said:

“Vernon would definitely like another child – he’d like a boy.”

Keith Lemon to replace Vernon Kay on Sing If You Can

Vernon Kay has decided to leave ITV’s entertainment show ‘Sing If You Can’ because the set was too “crazy” it has been reported.

The ‘Family Fortunes’ star was due to co-host the celebrity gameshow with former X Factor contestant Stacey Solomon but after filming a pilot for the programme – featuring Boyzone’s Mikey Graham, Jedward and Chesney Hawkes – where stars sing while being distracted by a series of random events such as having their chests waxed or objects thrown at them, he agreed with producers that we wasn’t a good fit for the format and would be better backing down from the show.

Vernon Kay wants to front Strictly Come Dancing 2011

Vernon Kay is said to be “desperate” to replace Bruce Forsyth on this year’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ series.

The 36-year-old TV presenter – whose wife Tess Daly fronts the BBC One show alongside the veteran host – has reportedly refused to sign a new deal with ITV1’s ‘All-Star Family Fortunes’ after hearing rumours that Bruce, 82, could be on the verge of quitting ‘Strictly’.

An insider explained: “Vernon is desperate to get the ‘Strictly’ job – and the BBC are very keen on him taking it.”

Tess Daly cancels public appearances after sex text scandal

TV presenter Tess Daly has cancelled all her planned appearances next week, as she attempts to mend her relationship with husband Vernon Kay.

Vernon admitted to sending lewd texts to five different women last week and while Tess is said to be furious with the radio DJ, she is planning to stand by him.

Tess was booked for many TV shows next week, as she started to promote her new book Baby Diaries: Memories, Milestones and Misadventures, she was also planning a book signing event in London.

However her spokeswoman told The Sun: “Tess is taking some time out so we’ve rescheduled her diary.

“But she will be signing books in due course.”

A pal said: “Tess is still furious with Vern and he has a lot of explaining to do.

“She hopes that now he has confessed it will be the end of it, but it’s still very painful for her.

“She has been humiliated by someone she loves dearly and the timing could not be worse.

“As well as stories about her two kids, her diaries talk about her supposedly fabulous marriage. She knows it will look slightly ridiculous.”

Shamed Vernon Kay has pulled out of his weekly radio show, out if fear that his listeners may react badly to his recent scandal.

Yesterday Vernon admitted that despite being married to the gorgeous Tess Daly, he has been sending lewd texts to five other women. Tess has reportedly refused to leave her husband and the father of her two children and Vernon now wants to take some time out of the public eye to make amends.
