US TV network Showtime has officially confirmed that hit comedy drama Weeds will end with the forthcoming new season, which is the show’s eighth.
Season 8 begins on July 1st on Showtime, and will run for 13 episodes, marking more than a hundred editions since the show began
In the eight years that it’s been broadcast, the show has won 21 Emmys, 10 Golden Globes, and six SAG Awards nominations.

This January, hit US comedies Weeds and Funny Or Die will make a return to Sky Atlantic HD for their latest seasons, plus the critically acclaimed HBO classic The Wire makes its debut on the channel.
The sixth season of Emmy® nominated dark comedy Weeds begins on Monday 2 January at 10.15pm, returning us to the world of Nancy Botwin (Golden Globe® winner Mary-Louise Parker), who took to selling marijuana when her husband died and who, over the years, has become more deeply involved with illegal activity. Cast regulars Hunter Parrish, Justin Kirk and Golden Globe® nominee Alanis Morissette will also make her big comeback.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on TV spoilers. I myself seek them out and love to have an inkling of what is coming up on my favourite TV shows. However I am sure that there are some fans who try to avoid them like the plague and these days that it becoming harder and harder to do.
This week THR.com sat down with the showrunners of several popular shows, including Matthew Weiner (Mad Men), Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy), Greg Daniels (The Office), Katie Jacobs (House), Alan Ball (True Blood), and Jenji Kohan (Weeds), and they talked about this and many other things.

Alanis Morissette has been lined up as a guest star for the fifth season of Weeds.
The season kicks off in America on June 8, and the Jagged Little Pill singer will play Nancy’s baby doctor, Audra Kitson.
She is expected to appear in numerous episodes and it will be really interesting to see how she copes with a speaking role. Any TV appearances so far have been as a singer.

The award-winning comedy drama WEEDS returns to Sky One for a third season of dark humour on Sunday 3 February at 10:00pm. Picking up from the season two cliff-hanger which saw mum turned pot dealer Nancy Botwin (Golden Globe® and Emmy® winner Mary-Louise Parker, West Wing, Fried Green Tomatoes) being held at gun point by rival dealer U-Turn (Page Kennedy, Desperate Housewives, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation) and his gang, as they demanded the weed they were owed. Trouble was, Nancy eldest son Silas (Hunter Parrish) had the stash and he had just been arrested…
As this season kicks off, Nancy is forced to repay her debt to U-Turn, which leads her down a new path, as series executive producer and writer Jenji Kohan explains. “Nancy is embracing her criminal life and on a certain level she likes it. She’s an adrenaline junkie. She’s no longer a housewife who’s dabbling, she’s saying, ‘I’m a dealer’.” Read more & comment »
