EastEnders have cast a familiar face in Daniel Coonan to play Kirsty Branning’s violent ex, Carl White, the Sun newspaper reports.

According to the publication Carl, who is being played by a former EastEnders small-part actor,  is set to be the biggest tough guy the long-running BBC soap has ever seen, and will throw a real spanner in the works for Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) and her husband Max (Jake Wood).

Fans of EastEnders will probably know that Shona McGarty and former cast member Matt Lapinskas broke up recently amid claims he was dating his Dancing On Ice pro-skate partner, Brianne Delcourt…

It’s a claim that Matt – who played the role of Anthony Moon – has always denied, however, a series of romantic tweets between him and Canadian Brianne of late have somewhat intimated they are romantically involved.

It’s no secret that EastEnders star Shona McGarty – who plays teen tearaway Whitney Dean – has a beautiful voice, which she showed off during last year’s Children In Need appeal…

So it will come as little surprise then that she’s currently working on recording an album of songs, and is having some help from hit band Florence and the Machine, who’ve been giving her some precious time in the studio.

It’s been revealed today that Matt Lapinskas – who left EastEnders last year – is headed back to Walford to reprise the role of Tyler Moon!

Matt, who’s currently competing in Dancing On Ice, has hinted that he’ll make a comeback for the wedding of Anthony’s brother Tyler (Tony Discipline) who has of course recently become engaged to Whitney Dean, who’s played by Matt’s real life girlfriend, Shona McGarty.

Matt told TV Biz, “Shona is very excited about her East-Enders wedding and I’d love to be involved.”

Fans of EastEnders will know that after Whitney Dean confessed to her boyfriend Tyler Moon that she’d kissed Joey Branning – again – he went hairless and ended up in a brawl with Joey…

He then called time on his relationship with Whitney, however, in tonight’s visit to Walford, a shamefaced Tyler (Tony Discipline) will be seen telling Whitney that he’s sorry for how he reacted to her honesty, and pleading with her to give their romance another go.

EastEnders star Shona McGarty has revealed that she was “shocked” when she first read the scripts for the show’s dramatic Christmas Day episode, and she thinks the soap’s fans will be too!

As viewers will most likely know, during the festive specials, dodge villain Derek Branning (Jamie Foreman) is set to die, and the secret that he and his brother Max (Jake Wood) have been keeping for months is set to finally become public knowledge.

Speaking to Take It Easy magazine, Shona – who’s dating former co-star Matt Lapinskas, who will be competing on the new series of Dancing On Ice when it returns to our screens in January – said of the dramatic plotlines, “[I was] really shocked…

In forthcoming episodes of EastEnders, Joey Branning is about to learn a few life lessons, beginning with the one about not coveting thy neighbour’s ass…

Or in this case, the ass that’s attached to Whitney Dean, who is of course dating Tyler Moon.

The other lesson Joey learns – via the medium of nearly dying in a car crash – is thou shall not steal, for lo, joyriding in his dad’s car has repercussions…

More on that in a moment, but first, the Daily Star reports that at Abi Branning’s (Lorna Fitzgerald) birthday party, cheeky Joey will grab Whitney (Shona McGarty) and plant a big kiss on her before she even has time to react.

When she does though, she immediately pushed him away, furious with him for taking such liberties, but by then Tyler (Tony Discipline) has seen what he assumed was the reciprocal snog, and he’s not a happy camper about it. McGarty, who plays troubled Whitney Dean in the soap, was suspended four weeks ago by new producer, Lorraine Newman, after repeatedly being late on set.

As the court case of EastEnders star, Tony Discipline (Tyler Moon) begins, details of the charges against him have been released.

Tony, who plays Tyler in the award-winning BBC soap, EastEnders, apparently shattered the jaw of a fellow clubber on a night out after he mocked him after the pair began rowing following a comment made about Discipline’s shirt.

The Daily Star Sunday reports today that EastEnders star Shona McGarty – who of course plays the role of troubled teen Whitney Dean – has been suspended without pay from the soap by new boss, Lorraine Newman.

It seems that Ms Newman decided to punish Shona – who’s dating co-star Matt Lapinskas – after other cast members complained about her turning up late for filming.

And of course, it’s not the first time Shona’s been in trouble for her antics as a few months ago, she and Matt – who plays Anthony Moon – were thrown out of a supermarket for throwing dairy produce around!

Shona is cited by the Daily Star as telling the producers of EastEnders that she wants to leave to “pursue a career in music” however, given that her real life boyfriend Matt Lapinskas – who plays Anthony Moon – has just been axed from the show, inevitably I’m wondering if Shona’s quit becaue she’s angry over his imminent departure from the soap.
