Take On The Takeaway: BBC Two
Now this sounds like a programme I need to watch!
Top chefs are on a mission to convert kebab lovers and curry addicts to good home-cooked food in this new series. The chefs are on a mission to cook their version of a takeaway in the same time it takes to order and deliver it. They also price the meal to see how it compares with the cost of a takeaway.
In the first programme, Michelin-starred chef John Burton Race travels to Newport, South Wales, to take on the challenge of cooking a Pakistani balti for two consultant surgeons.
Friends since med school, Ali and Munir both have demanding jobs and work long hours. The last thing they want to do in the evenings is cook for themselves. Instead they order in almost every night. They love the food and doubt that anybody could cook their chicken and spinach balti better than the local takeaway. How will John’s balti compare with their favourite takeaway meal in the blind-tasting session?
