Take That’s Mark Owen joins Robbie Williams, Gordon ramsay, Olly Murs, JLS & Gerard Butler on Soccer Aid 2012

Mark Owen has revealed that he has signed up to take part in this year’s Soccer Aid competition.

The Take That star will join his former bandmate Robbie Williams on the lineup and it was the dad to be Rob that confirmed the news this week, when he posted on his own website writing:

“Amazing news…. The best football player that TT produced has agreed to play for England at Soccer Aid.”

“Mr Mark Owen shall be gracing the Theatre of Dreams. It just gets better and better. Nice one Marko, see you on the training pitch in May. Love Robbie.”

The match will be based on the theme Hollywood vs the UK and international stars signed up to take part include actor/ producer Will Ferrell and Scottish actor Gerard Butler.

UK stars include Olly Murs, Patrick Kielty, Jamie Theakston, Gordon Ramsay, JLS bandmates Marvin Humes and Aston Merrygold and John Bishop.

There will be some pro footballers in the mix too and both Teddy Sheringham and Edwin van der Sar will also take part in the charity event.

Soccer Aid will be kicking off on Sunday 27th May at Manchester’s legendary Old Trafford stadium and broadcast live on ITV1. The live TV coverage will be presented by X Factor star Dermot O’Leary.

Money raised through profits from ticket sales and donations made by viewers during the match will go to UNICEF’s invaluable work to change children’s lives around the world.
