You would be forgiven for thinking it more likely that Frankie Cocozza or Bill Wyman might’ve uttered those words, but no, it was indeed silver fox Phil who made the revelation during an interview with fashion magazine, The Hunger.

It’s been revealed today that despite ITV trying desperately to poach top comedian and chat show host Alan Carr from Channel 4, he’s remained loyal to the broadcaster and signed a new two-year deal worth £4million.
It’s understood that ITV were keen to sign Alan up to the network after viewing figures showed he consistently draws bigger audiences for C4 than Jonathan Ross does with his ITV chat show.

Downton Abbey has missed out on a Bafta nomination for the first time since it began back in 2010, adding fuel to the rumours that its current spate of main stars departures has left the fans unsure of its future!
Downton Abbey instantly struck a chord with fans all over the UK when it burst on to our screens three years ago, and before long it had become a worldwide phenomenon, with even the First Lady of America, Michelle Obama pleading with the BBC to send her series 3 ahead of its US premier.

This morning the nominations for the TV BAFTAs were announced. As always there were some surprises and some glaring omissions so here’s a little look at the main nominees.
Leading the drama nominations are Jimmy McGovern’s Accused, Alfred Hitchcock biopic The Girl and Sally Wainwright’s Last Tango in Halifax each with four nominations. Accused appears in the best mini-series category with acting nominations for Sean Bean, Stephen Graham and Olivia Colman. Last Tango in Halifax is also nominated in the drama series category with other nominations for cast members Derek Jacobi, Anne Reid and Sarah Lancashire. Meanwhile The Girl is nominated for Single Drama with acting nods for Toby Jones, Sienna Miller and Imelda Staunton. The Hollow Crown series, which adapted some of Shakespeare’s History Plays, has three nominations including acting nods for Ben Whishaw and Simon Russell Beale.

It’s been reported today that ITV are set to part company with “expensive flops” Jonathan Ross, Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles, all of whom will reportedly be told their contracts with the broadcaster will not be renewed when they expire this year.
The three presenters earned around £5million between them from ITV, yet the shows they’ve been involved with have failed to light up the ratings…
And of course, Bleakley and Chiles were axed from breakfast show Daybreak when viewing figures fell to an all time low last year. They were replaced by show veteran Lorraine Kelly and presenter Aled Jones… Read more & comment »
This Morning legends, Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan will be returning to the hit ITV chat show to join in with its 25th birthday celebrations, the Sun newspaper reports.
Richard and Judy first hosted the show, currently hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, when it first launched back in 1988 up until 2001, before leaving to host hosting the daily chat show Richard & Judy from 2001 until 2009.

Fans of ITV daytime show This Morning will most likely know the hit show is celebrating a landmark 25 years of broadcasting this year…
And in amongst the celebrations will be a party in October, for which it’s expected that the show’s presenters, past and present, will gather to mark the occasion.
However, The Sun’s TV Biz alleges that former presenter John Leslie hasn’t been invited.
The paper states, “TV Biz understands that one former host, John Leslie — who was hit by unproven rape claims in 2002 when he fronted the show — is not thought to have been invited.” Read more & comment »
As we reported recently, Coronation Street star Bill Roache ended his relationship with Emma Jesson in order to concentrate his energies on developing his “healing powers.”
And today it’s been revealed that Bill, who holds strong spiritual beliefs and is a member of a religious “sect” in Manchester, is to attempt to communicate with his pet dogs via a psychic, which will be televised.
The bizarre event is set to take place on tomorrow’s edition of This Morning, and will see Bill – who of course plays the role of Ken Barlow on Corrie – joined by psychic Jackie Weaver, who Bill’s turned to for years to help him understand his dogs’ thoughts and “how they’re feeling.” Read more & comment »
Fans of Jeremy Kyle’s daytime talk show will of course know that guests on the show frequently become aggressive and often have to be removed from the set by ITV’s security team…
However, in a case heard in court yesterday, one former guest of the show claimed that he had been goaded by backstage staff into punching another man who was also appearing on the programme.
The Sun’s TV Biz reports of the production team, “They told , 41, that Darren Price had been calling him names.
“McPartland then went on stage and hit Darren, who was dating his niece, in front of a Manchester studio audience.”

In wake of her dramatic exit from award-winning ITV soap, Coronation Street, actress Shobna Gulati has been announced as a new panellist on daytime chat show, Loose Women.
Corrie fans will know that Shobna, who had played cheating wife Sunita Alahan in the soap since 2001, is set to have her character killed off in the explosive Rovers Return fire in an upcoming, much-anticipated storyline.

It’s been revealed today that chat show host and actress Ricki Lake is headed back to UK TV screens with a revival of her hit show, and we’ll see that she’s quite literally half the woman she once was as she’s shed a whopping 11 stones in weight!
However, while Ricki is now slimmed down and happily married, she’s revealed that her problems with her weight began after she was sexually abused aged just six years old.
The Daily Star reports that Ricki said, “I was molested as a young child aged six and I think that is what contributed to my being overweight and obese in later years.

Former Coronation Street and Loose Women star Denise Welch had extra reason to celebrate Valentine’s Day yesterday as her lover Lincoln Townley was given the all clear by medics after it was thought he’d suffered a heart attack.
The drama began when Lincoln collapsed at the couple’s home in Alderley Edge, Cheshire, earlier this week. He was rushed to hospital suffering from chest pain, however, once any heart problems had been ruled out, doctors apparently advised Lincoln to ease up on his exercise regime.
He and Denise have reportedly “been on a health drive” for the past four months ahead of their wedding.

Popular ITV chat show, This Morning, has “unreservedly” apologised to the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge after accidentally showing pictures of her baby bump in a bikini.
The incident happened when the show’s hosts, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were discussing the Italian magazine that took, and published the pictures of Kate Middleton sunbathing during a private holiday with Prince William on the island of Mustique, condemning their actions.

It’s been revealed over the weekend that ITV are set to axe The Jonathan Ross Show as it’s failing to pull in viewers.
The Daily Star Sunday reported that in addition to receiving “dismal” ratings, the show’s production team have also failed to “lure A list guests” for the chat show that debuted on the channel two years ago.
The paper adds, “But ITV chiefs have told Ross, 52, they are keen for him to work on other projects for the channel.”
A show insider said, “It’s just not pulling in the ratings ITV want for a prime-time Saturday night show.
“Chat shows on commercial channels ¬often struggle because adverts ruin the flow of an interview.” Read more & comment »
