American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift released her new album ‘1989’ yesterday (28th October) and already it’s soaring up the charts, especially in the United States.
In the US Swift’s latest release, led by the single ‘Shake It Off’ has had its sales forecast increased once again and it’s looking like the album is going to be incredibly popular.
The forecast in the first week was originally set at 750,000 before moving up to somewhere between 800,000 and 900,000 but it’s increasing again.
Billboard are now reporting that the fifth album from Taylor Swift is expected to shift more than 900,000 units in its first week on sale in the US alone.
If this feat is achieved then ‘1989’ would be the highest-selling album in the States since ‘The 20/20 Experience’ from Justin Timberlake.
When Timberlake released his album back in 2013 fans snapped it up at an incredible rate and during the first week on sale Timberlake had sold 968,000 copies.
Whether or not Taylor can exceed that level of sales is still to be seen but we really wouldn’t be surprised if she exceeded it with ease. Time will tell.
In other Taylor Swift news the beauty has also been confirmed as the headline act for this year’s ‘Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ on the 31st of December in New York City.
Ryan Seacrest, host and executive producer for the event commented: “Each year New Year’s Rockin’ Eve continues its iconic legacy by delivering incredible performances from the year’s hottest artists, and this year is no exception.
He added: “We already have secured an unprecedented number of music acts, culminating with a Times Square performance by Taylor, the biggest superstar in music today.”
Yesterday was an incredibly busy day for the blonde beauty but still she found time to perform a secret session for the album with iHeartRadio which you can see below.
