That’s What I Call Television! Coming To ITV
Join Fern Britton and Julian Clary for a look at what lit up the box between 1979 and 1989.
Remember when Rubik Cubes and Cabbage Patch Dolls were the latest fads, Madonna and Michael Jackson ruled the music scene, shoulder pads and big hair were de rigeur and every female fancied Don Johnson from Miami Vice? It might have been the decade that taste forgot but the Eighties will always be fondly remembered for the memorable TV it produced.
In the first of three one off specials, TV’s First Lady Fern Britton is joined by a different guest host to present That’s What I Call Television. In the first episode, Julian Clary will be picking his favourite TV shows, moments, ads and themes from TV’s golden age of 1979 -1989. Classic TV moments will be recreated including ‘The Good Life’ with Richard Briers and Felicity Kendal, the stars of ‘Crossroads’ check in for one night only and Judith Chalmers says, ‘Wish You Were Here.’
Episodes two and three of That’s What I Call Television will feature Matthew Kelly and Bradley Walsh as Fern’s co-hosts.
Fern commented: “The 1980s was a rich decade for television and talent. So many marvellous careers were established then by people who are still familiar faces on television today. I have many vivid memories of TV shows of that time. They include the wonderful Coronation Street, which I have watched since 1977. I would be absolutely lost without it.”
