The stars of hit CBS show ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Jim Parsons (Sheldon), Johnny Galecki (Leonard), Kaley Cuoco (Penny), Simon Helberg (Howard) and Kunal Nayyar (Raj) are seeking more money for their roles.
This follows on from the news that Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz) got major bumps in their pay cheques per episode.
Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki and Kaley Cuoco are working in a group seeking equal pay while Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are working together in another group on a raise.
Lead actors on The Big Bang Theory Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco all currently make $350,000 per episode but following the agreement of signing on for another two seasons that looks set to increase to $500,000 per episode.
Bialik and Ruach who joined ‘The Big Bang Theory’ much later had received increases in their salary that doubled what they made previously from around $20-30k to around $60k per episode and also agreed to sign for another year.
By the end of their contracts they look set to make nearly $100,000 per episode.
Helberg and Nayyar are apparently still negotiating and we’re unsure at the time as to whether or not an agreement has been reached but we’re sure that show bosses will do what they can to ensure they don’t lose two fantastic actors.
You may remember back in 2010 ‘The Big Bang Theory’ stars received a significant pay rise following further contract renegotiations which went on to become big news.
Johnny Galecki who plays Leonard Hofstadter in the show spoke out in 2012 about the information being made public: “I don’t even understand why the Internet has made it possible to reveal contract information.”
“We didn’t sign off on that being made public. It seems tasteless, which is maybe very Midwestern of me, but I just don’t understand.”
‘The Big Bang Theory’ is set to return to our screens next week for its seventh season and the show itself is up for a best comedy Emmy this coming Sunday while Jim Parsons who plays Sheldon Cooper is in the running again for best actor.
