The Good Samaritan

Three men, two wives and one rooftop. Shane Richie heads the cast of this rollicking comedy-drama as the mild-mannered and misguidedly generous Brian Guest.

Brian’s at an all-time low. The man who’s usually up for a laugh has realised that his wife, Lucy (Louise Delamere), wants to divorce him. To make matters worse, he receives a phone call from a man who’s even lower. The caller, Lewis (Brendan Coyle), is threatening to jump from the roof of Brian’s office block; the problem is that Brian thinks it’s a colleague playing a prank and is less than sympathetic.

Subsequent events conspire to make believe that his unhelpful response has resulted in the man’s death and, wracked with guilt, he sets out to make amends to the man’s wife, Hannah (Julia Ford), and her daughters.

Hannah, however, knows nothing of her estranged husband’s suicide attempt and finds him alive, kicking and seeking to rekindle their relationship. Brian’s efforts to offer financial help (and more) to Hannah are misconstrued by Lewis and, to add to his problems, Lucy is being lustfully pursued by the lawyer that Brian has employed to represent him in his divorce.

Meanwhile, is falling in love with Hannah…and things are spiralling out of control.

The Good Samaritan also features George Costigan as Ralph, Brian’s work colleague; Deborah Findlay as Eileen, Ralph’s wife, and Anthony Calf as Brian’s lawyer, Michael.

The Good Samaritan kicks off on ITV on Wednesday 16th May
