2008 sees the GRAMMY AWARDS celebrate their milestone 50th year, which promises to be one of the most eclectic celebrations ever. Viewers can tune in exclusively to ITV2 and watch this prestigious musical event unfold from the Staples Centre in Los Angeles. The Grammy Awards are exclusive to ITV2.

The Recording Academy has nominated musical excellence across 110 categories within 31 fields of music. This year reflects one of the most diverse years ever, with the Album Of The Year category alone representing music from country, hip-hop, jazz and pop to rock.

Taking to the stage to perform at this year’s award ceremony will be Beyoncé, The Foo Fighters, Carrie Underwood, 2008 MusiCares Person of the Year Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, as well as nominees Feist, Alicia Keys and Brad Paisley. Eight-time Grammy winner Natalie Cole, 12-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes, Grammy winner Cyndi Lauper, three-time Grammy winner Bette Midler and nine-time Grammy winner Bonnie Raitt will appear as presenters.

Amy Winehouse will be flying the flag for the UK at this year’s awards with six nominations, including Best New Artist, Album Of The Year for Back To Black and Song Of The Year for Rehab. Also nominated in this category is fellow British artist, singer-songwriter Corinne Bailey Rae.

Music legend Sir Paul McCartney is up for three awards, including Best Male Pop Vocal Performance with Dance Tonight and Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance.

Former Grammy award winning dance duo The Chemical Brothers are nominated for two awards: Best Dance Recording for Do It Again and Best Electronic/Dance Album for We Are The Night.

Kanye West is top of the leader board this year receiving a total of eight nominations, whilst the Foo Fighters, Jay-Z, Timbaland and Justin Timberlake have each gained five.

Last year saw The Dixie Chicks take home five awards including Album, Record and Song Of The Year. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers landed four, including Best Rock Album for Stadium Arcadium and Mary J. Blige left with three awards, winning R&B Album for The Breakthrough.

To see which artists walk away with the coveted golden gramophones viewers will have to tune in to the 2008 Grammy Awards on the 11th February, exclusive to ITV2.
