The Inbetweeners US slated by American fans of the UK original!

Since the first official trailer for the US version of The Inbetweeners was released – which you can see by clicking here – American fans who are faithful to the UK original version have angrily lashed out about the remake.

The trailer first aired on Monday in the States, and as TV Biz reports, it “went down as well as Neil’s Sausage & Egg McMuffin-scented farts in Simon’s car.”

Websites that featured the clip of the MTV show were swamped with negative comments, including, “America needs to stop making copies of class British shows! First Skins and now this!? STOP IT!”

And another angry Inbetweener fan wrote, “THIS LOOKS HORRIBLE! The British version was terrific but it was British humour with British actors and it should have stayed that way…”

While yet another said, “Inbetweeners was such a British show, from its humour to its raunchiness, but this?”

Website Chortle reports, “MTV, which is remaking the show, has blocked UK viewers from seeing the video, but one unofficial YouTube upload has had 2,630 ‘dislikes’, and just 51 ‘likes’.”

The US version of the show debuts on MTV on August 20, and though many of the original plotlines have been remade for the US version, its producers have “tinkered” with the characters’ language and other details in order to make it more “Californian.”

What’s your take on the trailer? Pants or OK?
