The Money Programme – Britain’s Favourite Fakes

There has been a steady increase in the sale of fake products with everything from counterfeit toothpaste and DVDs to clothes and condoms available to buy on the streets of the UK.
With the help of an exclusive Ipsos Mori survey, Max Flint explores people’s attitudes to buying “knocked off” goods and reveals how many people admit to buying fake goods, what Britain’s “favourite” fakes are, and where people buy them.
The Money Programme follows investigators as they try to clamp down on the criminals selling tens of thousands of fake DVDs in a busy Sunday market.
It also examines the work of the Film Piracy Unit, a special unit of the Metropolitan Police which is working on the links between the flood of fake DVDs on the market and organised crime.
