THE MURDER OF BILLIE-JO: SION JENKINS’ STORY

Screening as part of Channel 4’s Generation Next season, documentary strand First Cut continues. In 1997, 13-year-old Sussex schoolgirl Billie-Jo Jenkins was found brutally murdered in her back garden. Her foster father, Sion Jenkins, was convicted of the killing, only to be freed in 2006 after a second retrial failed to produce a verdict.

But rather than settle for a quiet life, Jenkins is publishing a book that sensationally claims to have identified a possible ‘new suspect’, in the hope that this will re-open the case. This film follows Sion over four months as he prepares to tell his side of the story for the first time.

Friday 15 August 2008, Channel 4, 7.35pm
