The finale of the US version of The Office is just around the corner and John Krasinski who plays Jim has promised that his character and Pam get a good ending.

Fans of the show will know that Jim had to take up a sports marketing job in Philadelphia in the final season of the show, which put strain on his marriage. However, Krasinski has revealed that he suggested the storyline to the producers as his real-life brother had been through a similar experience.

He said: “At the beginning of his [Philadelphia] job, he was travelling a lot all over the country for all his different clients. It was definitely a strain on the family in a very new way.

“For me, it was – can you have this perfect relationship go through a split and keep it the same? Which, of course you can’t. I said to Greg Daniels it would be really interesting to see how that split will affect two people that you know so well.”

Speaking about the finale of the sitcom, Krasinski says that it won’t answer all the questions that fans of the show may have, however, there is a romantic hope that everything will be okay and the pair will get a fitting end.

He said: “I remember Greg saying, very smartly, that we have to give the audience something as far as trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel. But I don’t think it necessarily answers all the questions as to how they’ll solve it.

“There’s a romantic hope that everything will be OK at the end of that episode. And now there’s going to have to be a little more brass tacks, if you will, as far as getting to understand how this will work.”

However, Pam and Jim have a lot of working out to do as Jim needs to figure out what he really wants, and what he wants to do with his job. Pam also needs to figure out how she feels with Jim giving up his job for her – she knows he loves what he does, so will she be able to live with the fact that she made him give up his career?

It has also been confirmed that Steve Carell will not appear in the season finale, despite the rumours flying around that he might secretly spring up. We also reported a few days back that Ricky Gervais will not be appearing as he’s just too busy, or can’t be bothered – one of the two anyway.

The Office comes to a close on May 16th, 2013.
