The Omid Djalili Show
“All I’ve ever wanted to do is to bring world peace through stand-up comedy … and now that I’ve done that I can concentrate on my new BBC One comedy series.”
Invoking the spirit of Dave Allen, Omid Djalili, one of Britain’s best contemporary comic performers, comes to BBC One with a unique fusion of his hugely successful stand up, comedy sketches and characters.
The show takes a grown-up swipe at modern-day life in a multicultural society. In his stand up, Omid talks about subjects that include the environment, multi-tasking mums and marriage. Sketch characters include a wannabe actor desperate to impress anyone he meets, a bouncer who releases his own instructional videos and a confused Mafia boss.
In this opening episode, Omid talks about his days as a bit-part actor and unleashes his Godzilla impressions. Sketches include a self-help guide to “countryside survival” and the wannabe actor who tries to impress a famous actress.
