The Panic Room On BBC Three

The frightening and debilitating world of extreme phobias is explored as The Panic Room continues.

Facing up to their worst fears this week are Julia Ruddick, from Warrington, who is so terrified of buttons that an expedition to the local shops becomes a living nightmare, and Sarah Bromley, a make-up artist from Sheffield, who has had to turn down glamorous photo shoots abroad because she can’t bear the thought of being anywhere near cockroaches.

Julia spent three days in Manchester working with psychologist Dr Lucy Atcheson, but how will she be able to cope on the final day in The Panic Room when she is showered by tens of thousands of buttons?

Sarah underwent a course of treatment with psychologist Dr Felix Economakis. Using a combination of clinical hypnosis, systematic desensitisation and graded exposure, she gradually became more comfortable in the presence of cockroaches, but what happens when she comes face to face with a giant Madagascan cockroach awaiting her in the final Panic Room?
