The Simpsons Movie Special On Sky One
To co-incide with the release of The Simpsons Movie, Sky Television, the UK’s home of The Simpsons, has created a tribute to the big screen debut of the world’s best loved and most successful animation.
After years of waiting, Homer, Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa have finally been catapulted onto the silver screen. The half hour show, presented by Simpsons fan, Iain Lee, looks at the excitement building around one of the most anticipated movies in years, including an interview with Matt Groening alongside other celebrity fans, including Jack Osborne, Richard Madeley and Alexei Sayle.
During the interview, Matt Groening talks to Iain about how they’ve adapted the show; “The movie is trying to do what we do on the show – the same kind of things about the duties of a father, families drive you crazy, the environment… but at the same time do it in a surprising way, in ways that we haven’t done before, that surprise us and hopefully surprises the audience”.
The show also takes a peak at clips from the movie itself, including Lisa’s romance, Bart’s already infamous skateboard nudity scene and Homer’s pig obsession. As Matt Groening himself tells Iain Lee,“Every character you have ever seen in [the show], they are in the movie someplace. Look for them and they are there.”
The Simpsons Movie Special will be broadcast exclusively on Sky One on Wednesday 25 July at 18.30 pm and Sky Movies Premiere on Friday 27 July at 15.30 pm. The Simpsons Movie Special is a half hour show ahead of the release of The Simpsons Movie, UK premiere 25th July 2007.

Has anyone seen this programme yet? What did you make of Nancy Cartwright’s comment about Catholics and Protestants not fighting each other when The Simpsons is shown each week? Absolute crap in my opinion.
