The Syndicate star Joanna Page talks babies and the lottery!

As fans of new Kay Mellor drama The Syndicate will know, former Gavin and Stacey star Joanna Page plays the role of single mum Leanne Powell, and it seems that playing the part of a mum has made Joanna broody!

She is of course married to former Emmerdale star James Thornton, who of course played the role of farmer John Barton.

And in addition to her Syndicate role as a mother, Joanna’s also starring in Sky1 comedy Gates – which debuts in the summer – again as a mum.

So when the Mirror asked if these roles were making her broody, Joanne said, “Oh God, yes!”

She added, “It’s been really, really sweet. Lily Pickering, who plays my daughter on The Syndicate, was just utterly, utterly adorable…

“I’ve always thought babies were cute but when they get to that age I don’t know what to say to them.

“After working with Lily though, oh, I could have eaten her she was just divine.”

Joanna then moved on to discussing her The Syndicate role in more detail, and revealed that prior to starring on the show, she hadn’t played the lottery often…

However, she now plays regularly online, and of that, she said, “You get this email saying, ‘Get in touch because you’ve won something’ and you think “My God, this is it’.

“But the first week I won £1.40 and my biggest win is £4.90.”

But Joanna hasn’t given up hoping for a big win, and just like Leanne’s mate Denise (Lorraine Bruce) Joanna says she’d want to help dogs via a charity of her own.

She said, “I’d open a dogs’ home and a dogs’ charity and have lots of dogs and take in lots of other animals as well and then I’d buy a little boat.

“Then I’d put them all on the boat and have my own Noah’s ark.”

The Syndicate continues on BBC1 on Tuesday at 9pm.
