At the end of season 2, fans of The Walking Dead were introduced to Michonne, the cloaked katana armed figure who was seen leading 2 zombies, minus their arms (armless enough then),by chains.
Michonne is set to make her mark on the show in season 3 of the WD comic TV series, as a fan-favourite character, and all round force to be reckoned with!
As per previous characters, her character and storyline will be adapted with subtle differences to fit in with the screen version.
“The essence of the character — her personality, her motives, everything that makes Michonne Michonne — remains intact from the comics,” Walking Dead comic creator and show executive producer Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly magazine.
“But like a lot of things on the show, there will be little tweaks and differences here and there. We saw that her introduction is slightly different from how it was in the comic, and her interaction with Andrea is really going to be a really cool addition to the character that I think will get television viewers up to speed, and they’ll get to know her a lot faster than comic book readers did.”
Fans can look forward to meeting her properly in October, when they can make up their own minds about the changes that have been made to the comic-favourite character.
And if that wasnt exciting enough, new photographs from the set of series 3, which can be seen here, show a familiar face returning to the popular zombie show.
Fans will recall that in series one, Merle, Darryl’s redneck brother, had been part of the stranded party in Atlanta, that Rick discovered. He was not a very nice chap at all, in fact we’d go as far as to say he was pretty darn evil and this led to him being handcuffed to a pipe and left to die on a rooftop!
But he didn’t die and when a guilty Rick later returned to rescue him, he discovered that Merle had vanished, leaving only a bloody hacksaw in his place. Although we were expecting him to show up soon after, Merle has never been seen since (apart from in a vision to Darryl in season 2), until now it would seem!
From the pictures it is clear to see Merle is back, as actor Michael Rooker was clearly visible on set, though he did not appear to have had his make up done yet, and was still boasting two arms!
Other photos from the set show some distant shots of Michonne and Andrea, and some set construction, possibly for the prison.
