Simon Cowell will receive the famous ‘Big Red Book’ in this one-off sixty-minute special of This Is Your Life, and presenting the now legendary book to Simon is acclaimed broadcaster Sir Trevor McDonald.
Originally transmitted on British screens in 1955, and hosted by Eamonn Andrews and subsequently Michael Aspel, the show was a celebration of the life of members of the public and famous faces.
For this glitzy one-off special, there will be a whole host of fantastic contributors from the world of showbiz, plus special musical performances, all in attendance to pay homage to Simon.
Sir Trevor will bring to the show a fresh, modern appeal and promises to award Simon with an entertaining and emotional journey through his life and provide viewers with a real insight into his formative years.
Sir Trevor says: “I am really looking forward to this new This Is Your Life; it is very exciting. Only two other people have presented the book before, Eamonn Andrews and Michael Aspel, so it’s a huge privilege.
Years ago I received the book myself and I remember it with great fondness. I was in a restaurant sitting next to Sir Alastair Burnet when Michael Aspel came in and I was convinced that it was Alastair getting the book and not me.
For this brand new This Is Your Life the format has been slightly altered and I think people will absolutely love it.
It’s an hour-special, as opposed to the original half-an-hour. It’s more of a glitzy show, with lots of great contributors. There will be a nice entertainment feel with some unique musical contributions.
I hope that this show will bring a fresh and modern appeal to the format and there are some really nice changes.”
