Fans of ITV daytime show This Morning will most likely know the hit show is celebrating a landmark 25 years of broadcasting this year…

And in amongst the celebrations will be a party in October, for which it’s expected that the show’s presenters, past and present, will gather to mark the occasion.

However, The Sun’s TV Biz alleges that former presenter John Leslie hasn’t been invited.

The paper states, “TV Biz understands that one former host, John Leslie — who was hit by unproven rape claims in 2002 when he fronted the show — is not thought to have been invited.”

A show source said, “No one is banned from coming but it’s unlikely that John will be there.

“He may feature as part of a montage but we haven’t yet decided.”

This Morning first aired in 1988, and was fronted by husband and wife team Richard Madeley and Judy Finnigan. During their absences for holidays and so forth, they were replaced for by guest presenters such as Stephen Rhodes and Alison Keenan.

Originally, the show was broadcast from a studio inside the Albert Dock in Liverpool, which is where iconic weatherman Fred Talbot john leslie 2presented his forecasts while hopping around a floating map of the UK.

In 1996, the show relocated to LWT’s Television Centre in London, and from 1998, Richard and Judy hosted only the Monday to Thursday shows, with guest presenters hosting on Fridays.

During the show’s tenth series, tragic Caron Keating – who died after losing her fight against breast cancer in 2004 – and Ross Kelly presented, and during series 11, Fern Britton and John Leslie became regular presenters on a Friday.

When Richard and Judy left This Morning in 2001, and their replacements Coleen Nolan and Twiggy proved less than popular with viewers, Britton and Leslie took on the full-time job of presenting the show.

However, as mentioned above, in 2002, after allegations were made in the press about his private life, Leslie left the show and was replaced by Phillip Schofield…

The rest, as they say, is history. Here’s a reminder of a news report about the allegations leveled at Leslie…
