Todd Grimshaw and his brother Jason will end up rowing and fighting when he returns to ‘Coronation Street’.
The hunk became the show’s first openly gay character in 2004 and after a being away from Weatherfield for six years, comes back tohis hometown with new boyfriend Jools in tow. But not everyone is glad to welcomg him back.
Todd – played by Bruno Langley – left the street in 2004 after it was revealed he had been cheating on then-pregnant fiancee Sarah-Louise Platt (Tina O’Brien) with male nurse Karl Foster and although he briefly returned to see his former flame marry Jason (Ryan Thomas), all is not well between the brothers.
Bruno said: “Todd’s very nervous about bringing his boyfriend back to meet the family. He’s a bit wary about introducing Jools to everyone, because he’s been in London a while and has changed.
“He’s been mixing with well-to-do people and he thinks his mum and Jason are quite common. Todd is all academic nowadays – and he’s become a bit snobbish.”
As the brothers clash, it is left down to mum Eileen (Sue Cleaver) to sort things out behind the pair as she doesn’t want Todd to leave her again.
However, it’s not just Jason who has a problem with his “snobbish” sibling.
Speaking of his alter ego’s return, Bruno added to Inside Soap magazine: “Todd’s got a bit of history with more than one person on the street, so a trip to the Rovers brings back some memories he’d rather not dwell on.
“There are still some tensions for him there – I’m sure some people have said some nasty things about Todd while he’s been away and still think badly of him over what happened.”
Inside Soap magazine goes on sale tomorrow (19.04.11).
