Former Holby City star Tom Chambers is to join the cast of BBC’s Waterloo Road.

A real BBC man, Tom left Holby and went on to win Strictly Come Dancing 2008.

The Sun reports that Tom will make his debut as Max Tyler in the fifth series of the BBC1 drama.

Tom has faced a bit of a come down as only a few months ago he was determined that his future career lay in movies and not TV shows.

“I have a Hollywood manager and plans for my own film,” he said shortly after winning Strictly.

“Tom is disappointed to find himself on another telly drama,” a source told the paper. “He was convinced he was about to hit the big time, that he was leading man material.”
