Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were a huge hit on last night’s Top Gear show. The Hollywood A listers managed to break all previous speed records set by celebrities, greatly impressing presenters James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson.

The Knight and Day stars surpassed the previous record set by Harry Potter actor Rupert Grint. Cameron beat the record first after she completed the lap in 1 minute, 45.2 seconds, but she didn’t hold the top spot for long as Cruise beat her just minutes later, doing the circuit in 1 minute, 44.2 seconds.

Tom said: “This is the best day. This was like a vacation.”

Host Jeremy Clarkson admitted: “That was a breathtaking thing.”
