TV Chefs Cookbooks ~ The Bestsellers This Christmas

TV’s celebrity chefs have been very busy this year bringing out lots of books, but which of them might find their way into your Christmas stocking this year?

Well, we’ve had a look at various book retailer websites and found that most have a different top ten, but Jamie Oliver’s new book is at the top of the list for the majority of them.

So let’s take a look at our choice of the top ten of celeb chef cookbooks. Follow the links for more information.

1. At number 1 is Jamie Oliver’s book, Jamie’s Ministry of Food: Anyone Can Learn to Cook in 24 Hours. It is of course the companion to Jamie’s very successful TV series in which he tries to teach us how to cook the way our grandmothers and great-grandmothers cooked. The book’s blurb says it will teach you to prepare, ‘wholesome, tasty food that was simple and quick to prepare. If you’re a complete beginner in the kitchen, Jamie’s promise to you is that you’ll be making some great dinners within hours of reading his book’.

2. Nigella Lawsontakes the second spot with her book, Nigella Christmas: Food, Family, Friends, Festivities. I wonder if her dad advises her about cooking to a budget? It does contain some mouthwatering Christmas food recipes though!

3. Then we have Rachel Allen and her book,Bake. In it, she promises to show us how to make ‘delicious and easy cakes and bakes, tarts and pies, quiches and casseroles from her brand new TV series.’

4. In fourth place is Gordon Ramsay’s Cooking for Friends: Food from My Table. The book has lots tips and recipes for cooking traditional and simple meals at home.

5. Gary Rhodes newest book is at number 5. Gary Rhodes 365: One Year. One Book. One Simple Recipe for Every Day. Rediscover Gary Rhodes with this beautiful cookbook full of delicious recipes to see you through the whole year

6. The very popular Nigella is back in the charts with Nigella Express at number 6 on the bestseller list and, as the title kinda gives away, it’s primarily about making meals in a hurry.

7. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s book, The River Cottage Cookbook is of course the companion to his series and contains many of the meal ideas and recipes from the show.

8. Indian Food Made Easy
by Anjum Anand promises to take the mystery out of exotic Indian dishes but personally, I’m not quite brave enough to attempt anything more daring than pouring sauces out of a jar where Indian cookery is concerned. Maybe I should ask Father Christmas for her book!

9. Like Nigella, Jamie Oliver has another tome in the top ten, and this one is Jamie at Home: Cook Your Way to the Good Life. “This book is very close to my heart.” Jamie says. “It’s about no-nonsense, simple cooking with great flavours all year round. When I began writing it, I didn’t really know what recipes I would come up with, but something began to inspire me very quickly… my vegetable patch!”

10. And finally, Delia Smith’s How to Cheat at Cooking
is hanging on in there eveb though it’s more of a what to mix together book, than real cooking. In “How to Cheat at Cooking”, Delia has sourced a range of pre-prepared foods (from tins, chill cabinets, freezers and store cupboards) to help you short circuit cooking times and techniques.
