TV Ratings: The Big Bang Theory wins the night & The Crazy Ones scores big; CBS scores best network award

by Nick Barnes

As we would have predicted, The Big Bang Theory stole the night last night for CBS with almost 20 million viewers tuning in.

The Crazy Ones starring Robin Williams also did very well for the network with over 15 million viewers tuning in to see the series premiere. It did a lot better than we expected. Glee and The Michael J. Fox show also performed well last night.

The Big Bang Theory stole the night last night in both the demo scores and viewing figures. In total, 18.90 million viewers tuned in to see the special one hour premiere, in which episodes 1 and 2 of the new season aired back-to-back. The highly popular sitcom featuring Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco and Johnny Galecki had a 5.6 rating in the key 18-49 demographic.

Not only that, the 5.6 rating marks an increase on last year’s premiere which scored a 5.0 rating, showing that the sitcom is getting even more popular as the seasons go on. The show is now in its seventh season and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Elsewhere, Robin Williams’ new comedy The Crazy Ones scored very well for the network with 15.60 million viewers tuning in. It also received a 4.0 rating and beat the series premiere of The Michael J. Fox Show which managed 7.30 million viewers and a 2.1 rating.

Glee also returned last night with the first part of its two-part Beatles tribute. 5.17 million Gleeks tuned in with a 2.0 rating which is majorly down from last year’s 3.1 demo score.

On NBC, the one-hour premiere of Parks & Recreation earned a 1.3 score and 3.30 million viewers.

The X Factor managed to maintain its 2.0 rating from last week with 6.38m tuning in.

CBS won the night hands down with 14.20 million viewers and a 3.4 rating. ABC; 7.9m (2.7), FOX; 5.8m (2.0), NBC; 5.3m (1.7), The CW; 0.9m (0.3).
