I found the performance of Suranne Jones in the ITV drama Unforgiven very compeling.
Her character was totally believable and I felt drawn into her story.
They way Suranne took on the part of Ruth Slater was as if she was wearing the skin of the character, her whole persona became Ruth, her submisiveness and shame of her past as she became involved with the other characters in the drama could be seen in her stance and felt in the emotion when she spoke.
But the most important moment for myself was the way Ruth's body changed at the end after speaking to and being accepted by her sister. Ruth's body and face changed completley, you could see the glow in her eyes and skin, her life was changing the submissiveness and shame seemed to just melt away.
Suranne really deserves an award for her portrayal of the characer, brillant acting, brilliant writing by Sally Wainwright and a brilliant production from ITV.
It definatley gets my familys vote.

I have been an enthusiast of theatre film and television for over 40 years. During that time I have seen some fine and emotional British performances. Kes, I Claudius, A Man for All Seasons are particularly memorable, but I will add Miss Suranne Jones as one of the best I have seen in the past five years. A Bafta nomination performance if I ever saw one. Miss Jones, you may be destined for great things.I easily rank your potential alongside Mirren, Quick and Swinton for passion, emotion and conviction.
