Vernon Kay is said to be on the brink of signing a £2 million deal with ITV after he approached them with an idea for a show during their 5pm time slot.

A source told The Sun: “Vernon has bags of ideas and is really keen to do something in the 5pm slot. He went to ITV and they like the idea because they want to grow him into one of their main entertainment faces. He already presents Family Fortunes and Gameshow Marathon.

“ITV now want him to have his own peak-time show but built around his personality, so trying something at 5pm will give him a good springboard.”
