Coronation Street actress Vicky Binns has admitted that she is waiting for the abuse to start, as the public express their distaste at her character’s adulterous affair with Kevin Webster.

Newlywed Molly Dobbs has embarked upon an affair with her hubby’s boss and Vicky revealed that even This Morning’s Fern Britton is disgusted with her.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, she explained: “Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone, met her and she said to him: ‘I hate Molly for doing that to you’.

“Fern has got a lot of love for most people – she’s a very accepting woman. But if even she hates me, I dread to think what other people will think. I’m getting a bit nervous now. I’ll have to wear a hard hat when I go to Sainsbury’s!”

Binns also said that viewers always take Tyrone’s side, even when he is in the wrong.

“I get stick already over Tyrone – even over the most trivial things,” she revealed. “If I tell him off, even when he’s blatantly in the wrong, the cameras cut to his big brown eyes and everyone goes: ‘Aaaah, poor Tyrone’.

“So the sympathy will obviously be with him. But I’m also hoping some people identify with Molly and understand why, because it isn’t just horrible people who have affairs. I absolutely believe anyone is capable of having an affair.”
