The ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise suffered a massive blow at the beginning of this month after actor Paul Walker died in a horrific car crash.
The actor aged 40 had starred in a few of the ‘Fast & Furious’ movies and had began filming with co-star Vin Diesel on ‘Fast & Furious 7’ until his accident.
‘Fast & Furious 7’ had been given an estimated release date of July 11th, 2014 and many weren’t sure if they’d even make that date.
However following the death of Paul Walker the release date has been pushed back by almost a year with a new release date of roughly April 10th, 2015.
Production of the movie had already been halted following the actors death while producers and writers figured out what they would do – and to allow everyone to deal with the loss.
The announcement was made by ‘Fast & Furious’ star Vin Diesel who took to his Facebook page and posted a picture of himself with Paul Walker (which can be seen above).
Along with the picture Vin Diesel added a caption which read: “The last scene we filmed together…There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared… in the film we were now completing… the magic captured… and, in just how far we’ve come…Fast and Furious 7 will be released…April 10th 2015!”
He added: “P.s. He’d want you to know first…”
In a statement released by a rep following the stars death Universal Pictures said:
“At this time we feel it is our responsibility to shut down production on Fast & Furious 7 for a period of time so we can assess all options available to move forward with the franchise,”
At present we don’t know how Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Conner will be used in the final copy or how they will explain his absence.
