Last night in the US the season five premiere of ‘The Walking Dead’ aired on AMC and it appears it was met with an incredibly positive reaction.

UK fans will have to wait until 9pm tonight (GMT) before they get in on the action so if you’re from the UK, be warned, you might want to bookmark this article until after the episode.

If you’re impatient and want to find out what happens right now (that’s why you’re reading this far surely) then you can read our spoiler packed recap by clicking right here.

The premiere episode was one of the best we’ve seen. It was packed with action from beginning to end, mixed with raw emotion from all as the group made it out alive.

Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, has revealed that things were so dramatic and gruesome at times, he wasn’t sure some of the scenes from last night’s premiere would even make it to air.

Speaking about the moment where captured survivors’ throats were cut and the blood dripped into a trough below, Lincoln explained:

“That’s the opening scene of the season! All of the crew has been on the show for five years. They’re hardcore. They’re the real deal, these people, and they’ve seen some crazy s***.”

“That practical gag they did looked exactly like you see on TV,” Lincoln told Zap2it. “All of us were just freaking out. Then they went, ‘And cut,’ and everybody went, “That’s never going to be on screen.”

We got a sneak peek into the second episode of ‘The Walking Dead’ last night which airs next Sunday (Monday in the UK) and we’ve already moved on from Terminus so we know the story is picking up pace.

The episode is called ‘Strangers’ and Rick is shown leading the group through the jungle looking for somewhere else to call home but it’s not just walkers causing problems for them.

For the next episode the official synopsis talks about “supplies running low” and that rewards for a mission may not be worth the effort.

We also got a glimpse at the group’s first encounter with Father Gabriel Stokes (Seth Gilliam) who is found in a church surrounded by walkers. It’s been reported he will be a recurring character. Check out the two clips below and let us know what you thought about the premiere.
