Yesterday we reported that when ‘The Walking Dead’ returns in February 2014 UK fans will get to see new episodes just 24 hours after the US instead of nearly a week later.
‘The Walking Dead’ showrunner Scott Gimple spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about what fans might expect during the season four midseason finale.
Following last weeks episode we saw a glimpse of what to expect when The Governor meets Rick and the rest of the group at the prison but Gimple spoke a little more in depth about what could happen.
In particular he spoke about how Rick has returned to being the man with a gun on his hip and hinted at how the confrontation could lead to someone or several people not returning after the battle:
“We see Rick is very much back as someone with a gun on his hip, ready to participate in the brutality of the world to keep his people safe.”
“It’s a very explosive situation and it’s entirely possible that everybody doesn’t make it back. That sort of thing would be something that would affect these characters even more deeply.”
The showrunner also spoke about how things for the prison group will get worse despite them all being at an incredibly low point at present and also mentioned the potential for an explosion when Daryl finds out about Carol:
“It’s a potentially explosive situation on top of an explosive situation; one from inside the prison [Daryl and Rick] and one from outside the prison [The Governor],”
Gimple added: “If both were to happen at the same time, that could be quite dangerous for the people inside the prison.”
The prison group have been there for quite some time now and Gimple told The Hollywood Reporter that it’s quite possible they could hold onto it for some time yet.
“They can get through whatever is thrown their way. They could potentially have that place for a good, long time.”
What about the unfinished business though? We all know everybody wants a piece of The Governor including Michonne and Daryl though he will more than likely seek revenge on Michonne after she killed his daughter Penny and took his eye
“Michonne and Daryl will not react well if they were to see The Governor — they’re not all the way healed from their experiences with him,”
‘The Walking Dead’ showrunner also teased the possibility about help being on the way and if the comics are anything to go by Abraham, Eugene and Rosita have yet to appear in the TV adaptation: “There is a potential to see them sooner rather than later,”
The midseason finale of ‘The Walking Dead’ will air on AMC tomorrow night (1st December) at 9pm and UK fans will get a chance to see it next Friday on FOX UK.
