Watch Survivors On BBC One
Julie Graham, Max Beesley, Paterson Joseph, Zoe Tapper, Phillip Rhys, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Freema Agyeman star in Adrian Hodges’s exciting new six-part action-adventure-drama series.
Imagine being the only survivor of a disease that kills every member of your family, that kills lovers, strangers and friends – in fact, nearly everyone you’ve ever met. You are among the lonely few to live and now you must start over in a strange new world where everything that was once safe and familiar is now strange and dangerous.
Set in the present day, the drama series focuses on the world in the aftermath of a devastating virus which wipes out most of the world’s population. What would we do? How would any of us cope in a brave, new world where all traditional 21st-century comforts – electricity, clean running water, advanced technology – have disappeared?
These are the questions faced by the bewildered but resilient group of survivors at the centre of the drama. It is an opportunity for new beginnings, but with no society, no police and no law and order. They now face terrible dangers – not just the daily struggle for food and water but also the deadly threat from other survivors.
Survivors is a re-imagining of the classic Seventies BBC drama series, based on the novel by Terry Nation.
Freema Agyeman is Jenny; Nikki Amuka-Bird is Samantha Willis; Max Beesley is Tom Price; Shaun Dingwall is David; Julie Graham is Abby Grant; Paterson Joseph is Greg; Phillip Rhys is Al; Zoe Tapper is Anya and newcomer Chahak Patel is 11-year-old Najid.
Viewers can catch up on every episode of Survivors at any time during the series, using the new “Series Stacking” function on BBC iPlayer. Rather than individual episodes only being available for seven days, series stacking means viewers will be able to enjoy any episode, after its first broadcast, for the duration of the entire series.

SURVIVORS BBC 1 – 23 November 2008 21.00 Hrs
SURVIVORS!!! Oh dear, why BBC why? The pre titles stated CREATED AND WRITTEN BY ADRIAN HODGES – Based on the “book” by TERRY NATION – well it is news to me it was a book before it was the original series –can’t you even get that right!!!!!
But I thought – at last a piece of television that will not corrupt established history – unlike the majority of the continued boring BBC OUTPUT of “period” pieces!
The original SURVIVORS series (1975-1977) created by TERRY NATION was all done on very poor OB VT – looked complete washed out, the cast were even more uninteresting then than the current incumbents – there was never any mention of (a la the final moments of this one) of some unknown form of protagonist that has released the virus purely to exterminate 90% of humanity for no good reason rather than perhaps the credit crunch or over priced spuds.
The continued VERY EXPENSIVE aerial travelogue shots of an empty London only seem to prove increasing the congestion charge does work with a large does of flu.
The use of Mr Beluga Eating Crystale Drinking pseudo Kuwaiti good looker suffering from a case of BCSD – or BIG CAR SMALL D**K – was very annoying. The black girl from DOCTOR WHO didn’t last long perhaps that is a sign that they will have guest refugees from all the period and “Who” pieces they have not been able to find other parts for in other productions turning up for a quickie to keep the wolf from the door. MAX BEESLEY seemed to treat his prison like HOTEL BABYLON and having “escaped” will of course become the hero over the next five weeks and find a cure! The actress from BONEKICKERS seems to have had survived from the destruction her career from that load of tosh!
I also notice one of the contenders for the next DOCTOR WHO, Paterson Joseph also appeared – well if his performance in this lamentable production is anything to go by, he will not ensure then continued success of the sainted DR WHO by become the first black guy to play the part. He is too lightweight and does not have the charisma and eccentricity of an actor for this iconic part!
And I see ANDY PRYOR CDG – a member of The Casting Director’s Guild ( WHO ALSO CASTS DR WHO, TORCHWOOD, SARAH JANE, LIFE ON MARS, CUTTING IT, OUR FRIENDS IN THE NORTH – amongst many others oh and TRAINSPOTTING) cast this one as well – shame on you Mr PRIOR why do you make your job so easy when you continue to cast the same people in everything? THE SPOTLIGHT ACTORS DIRECTORY has over 30000 possibilities surely he could manage to use a little bit more imagination?
Lastly the original series lasted for three series of some 38 episodes and that was really pushing it – luckily this only last for 6 episodes unless the BBC have the audacity to really milk this one from the cast of goats that I am sure Mr Pryor will be casting from his own herd for a further two series?
MARC SINCLAIR
Im disappointed in the series, first episode was good, believable, now its gone off on totally ludicrous plotlines, scavenging for food…???? duh!! where has all the thousands and thousands of tons of canned and dry goods in supermarkets and warehouses gone, searching for petrol,…??? duh!!! all the fuel in the petrol stations in tanks, all you would need is a hand pump, and anyway, if I ran short on fuel I would just hop in another vehicle. Give us a bit of realism bbc not some hairbrained scheme just to sensationalise episodes, there would be “real” situations you would have to contend with in such an event,I think number one priority would be a base to work and live, not wander about like gypsies, and attempt to set up some communication links. sad to say, a potentially good show has gone awry, ah well I suppose the 16-24 will like it.
Hoho .. negative comments above
I liked it a lot. But for some it may be a little too slow. Or a bit too much on the human interaction side. But then .. go watch a hollywood action movie! This is BBC.
i have no idea what you lot are on about it being bad, i thought it was great.
and have you not watched the episodes they’re scavenging for food because other people have taken over the supermarkets. The people with the guns?
i totally agree with carl schulz.\
does anyone know where i can watch the full episodes cause bbc iplayer have deleted them and im only on episode 3
kinda want to know what happens…
please where may i obtain a copy of this series?
It’s the original series I am after. Any form will do.
