Waterloo Road Returns To BBC One For Series Four

Waterloo Road returns to BBC One for a new series on Wednesday 7 January 2009.
Set in a fictional school in Rochdale, the drama features good and bad teachers and pupils, although at its heart is a message that a few good teachers in one school can succeed in achieving the near impossible.
Waterloo Road is a long running drama with mass appeal to a wide-ranging audience. Originally commissioned in 2005 for eight episodes, the series has grown over the years and is now enjoying a fourth series.
In total, 60 hours have been produced – a testament to its popularity with viewers, which peaked at six million in March 2008.
Waterloo Road has featured actors such as Angela Griffin, Jason Merrells, Jill Halfpenny, Eva Pope and Neil Morrissey.
Series four sees the return of Head Teacher, Rachel Mason (Eva Pope), who nearly died at the end of series three, after being trapped in the school as a fireball ripped through it.
Deputy Head, Eddie Lawson (Neil Morrissey) is back, and from episode 11 we see the welcome return of Kim Campbell (Angela Griffin).
Rachel is more determined than ever to get the school back on track and introduces challenging new initiatives, a zero-exclusion policy, breakfast and after-school clubs, and adult evening classes.
However, her plans are dealt a severe blow with the arrival of the Kelly “family from Hell”.
Gaynor Holmes, BBC Executive Producer for Waterloo Road, said: “I’m delighted that Waterloo Road is returning in January to BBC One. BBC Drama Scotland is extremely proud of the series which has proved extremely popular with viewers, especially younger audiences. Shed has produced another series brimming with exciting, action-paced stories and stunning cast performances.”

[...] Waterloo Road returned to BBC1 last night and I’m not sure it was worth them bothering to reconvene a new term. I rather wish they’d taken an inset day or two. [...]
hello can i come on this tv to act
this is such a fabe tv series i love it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really disappointed with the Rachel storyline which has quite obviously lost the plot. No one of her background would have passed a CRB check. I am a teacher and a former school governor. There are real issues for this drama to explore. Sidelining good actors for the sake of cheap thrills will not work. You have important issues in the Kelly family and actors who seem to have had a different director. Denise Welch is worth more than this. A wig as a plot diversion???
OMDZ I LUV WATERLOO ROAD AND DENZIL KELLY IS SOOOO BUFF

I think that last epsode on the 4 Februay 2009 was one of the best sires that has ever been done.I dont like the police man he is just plan nasty he should be looked up.I dint like the last part when the children got thaken away from their mum.I cant wate till next week’s.
Pleasee put Neil Morrissey and Eva Pope both in series 5! x
x
they are such a good couple and i’m sure evryone wants to see them happy, without any tragic disaster lol x i think eddie should move in with rachel and then live happily ever after!
Please put them both into the fourth coming series,, i am thrilled and cant wait for series 5 and it would be even better if rachel and eddie would be in it together x
thankyouhh,, bbc for bringing such a brilliant programme to our tv screens !
i dont think eddie is going to be in series 5 he might be though! theres going to be a dramtic storyline that kills of matt and leave you wondering about eddie (if he livs or dies). i also seem to think that chlos baby is going to be premature and that she will die in tom and dontes arms or the baby will die!? hope not! if that dosent happen i think tht donte might die in the demolisation of the school. think the storyline with kim steph and grace is fantastic espicially that steph wasnt close to kim before! i think its sweet (for sum reson i dont think kim will get to keep the baby i bet it gets taken away or andrew will come back n tek it of er n say shes done wrong leavin kim really alone. Guttered about izzie she should still be in it she was my best charector and divina and theyve both gone.
Couldn’t agree more with azza re Izzie (Jill Halfpenny). Don’t know whether or not Jill wanted to remain in the series or whether the writers wanted to “kill off” her character. Whatever, I think it was a mistake that they made Jill’s departure from the series so final. They should have left the proverbial door open for a possible return, as per Angela Griffin (Kim Campbell). Poor old Tom, he doesn’t have much luck with women. One suicide, one murder and one walking out on him so far.
