What’s On TV Tonight ~ Monday 13th October

Another action packed telly night tonight with the start of the much touted ‘murder week’ on Corrie being one of my highlights tonight… I don’t get out much!

Here’s what else is on offer…

Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two, BBC2, 6.30pm ~ Claudia Winkleman hosts the daily fanzine which tonight features an interview with the recently ousted couple and footage of rehearsals. Craig Revel Horwood drops in to discuss the judges decision.

Emmerdale, ITV1, 7pm ~
Lily tries to con the factory workers into believing they misread the raffle ticket and didn’t win the car, leaving Pearl to take the blame for the apparent mistake. Diane explains to Victoria that Andy’s been abusing Jo but Daz refuses to believe his brother’s guilty. Elsewhere, Jake makes an effort to impress Jasmine.

Watchdog, BBC1, 7.30pm ~ New series. Tonight, the rather annoying Nicky Campbell, Julia Bradbury and Paul Heiney present advice on getting through the credit crunch and investigate which companies are taking advantage of the economic downturn. Plus, a shocking update on one of the series’ biggest stories from recent years.

Coronation Street, ITV1, 7.30pm ~ The first of tonight’s episodes sees the start of `murder week’ – filmed ‘24’ styly – focusing on the events of just one day during which Liam Connor will meet a sticky end at the hands of Tony Gordon. As Tony prepares for his stag do, Liam tries to persuade Carla to call off the wedding. Kevin receives a warning that Sophie’s life is in danger and Rita offers Tina a job at the Kabin. Second episode is at 8.30pm.

Eastenders, BBC1, 8pm ~ Jack and Tanya’s offer on a house in France is accepted, but Tanya’s reluctant to tell the girls. Jane feels guilty about her secret when Ian cooks her a candlelit dinner, while a nervous Billy prepares for the social worker’s visit. Zainab investigates Tamwar’s strange laptop behaviour and a surprise aaits Ronnie at her ex-boyfriend Joel’s house.

Dispatches: The Trouble with British Airways, BBC1, 8pm ~
Not long ago it was dubbed `the world’s favourite airline’, but now with reports that they mislaid more bags per passenger and have cancelled more flights than many competitors, BA’s brand-name is tarnished. In the wake of the disastrous opening of Heathrow’s Terminal Five, this documentary examines the reputation of the national carrier at one of the most challenging points in aviation history.

What To Eat Now, BBC2, 8.30pm ~ Valentine Warner turns his attention this week to game. He goes on a deer hunt on Jura in Scotland’s Western Isles to fill the perfect venison pie and shops on Portobello Road for spices to flavour a Moroccan dish. He also shows how to cook mallard with puy lentils and chanterelle mushrooms. I think I’d starve to death before I ate anything that resembled Bambi or Donald Duck…

Crimewatch, BBC1, 9pm ~ Tonight, appeals for witnesses and further information regarding the hunt for the men who opened fire in a busy office killing the manager. Plus, a man poisoned by his own wife talks about why she did it. Kirsty Young, Matthew Amroliwala and Rav Wilding present.

Wired, ITV1, 9pm ~ New drama series in which Jodie Whittaker stars as a single mother whose delight at winning a high-profile promotion at ZBG Banking turns to despair when she finds herself embroiled in a plot to defraud the company. The criminals use her shady past to blackmail her into joining their scheme. With Toby Stephens, Laurence Fox and Charlie Brooks. This looks like it’s going to be a good one!

Unbreakable, Five, 9pm ~ The Norwegian School of Winter Warfare: Benedict Allen takes his seven remaining volunteers to Norway, where the nation’s army teaches them lessons in winter warfare and warn them to expect the worst pain they’ve ever felt. They are placed in the vicinity of a TNT explosion and forced to jump into an ice hole while still wearing their skis, before the group are informed of their night’s accommodation; self-built frozen bivouacs. Jeez, I feel badly done to if I have to scrape ice off my car in the mornings…

Roman Polanski – Wanted and Desired: Storyville, BBC4, 10pm ~ Marina Zenovich’s fascinating documentary reopens the controversial and complex case of film director Roman Polanski’s public conviction for having unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor some 30 years ago and his subsequent run from the United States to avoid jail. By revisiting all of the key players, she tries to find out what really happened and casts a very different light on Polanski’s decision, as well as on the workings of the American legal system.

The Dark Side of Fame with Piers Morgan, BBC1, 10.45pm ~ Nancy Dell’Olio: The series exploring the downside of fame continues, with Piers Morgan talking to Nancy Dell’Olio, girlfriend of former England manager Sven Goran-Eriksson, about her rocky relationship with the British press. Over the years the tabloids have attempted to figure out who the real Nancy is; Loyal partner, or gold digger? Dignified charity worker, or shameless self publicist? Piers tries to uncover the truth and asks Nancy about how Sven’s dalliances with other women have affected her personally.

Couples Who Kill, Discovery Channel, 11pm ~
Evil in the Desert: Documentary series about real-life murderous partnerships. Tonight, New Mexico investigators are baffled when some young women who had been missing turn up and say they are having frightening flashbacks about being tortured.
