What’s On TV Tonight, Monday 6th September

Tonight sees the start of some big storylines in the soaps, as well as the continuation of the Where’s Rosie saga but if soaps aren’t your idea of a good night in, we’ve got a few alternative viewing choices too! The absolute don’t miss tonight is the concluding part of Place of Execution at 9pm on ITV1.

Emmerdale, ITV1, 7pm ~
Tonight, Jo confides in Debbie about the full extent of Andy’s abusive behaviour and reveals her plan to leave him. Jasmine’s journalistic instincts convince her to pursue Shane in the hope of finding information about drug crime for an article, while Matthew finds himself falling for Anna’s charms.



Big Cat Live, BBC1, 7.30pm ~ 2/8:
Tonight’s is the second in a week-long series of live broadcasts from Kenya’s world famous Masai Mara game reserve. The reserve is the home of the big cats and, right now, it’s also home to thousands of wildebeest on their annual migration. Cameras are following the action 24 hours a day to reveal the amazing lives of the big cats and the whole host of other reserve residents.

Coronation Street, ITV1, 7.30pm ~ Poor Becky works hard to get the flat ready as a surprise for Jason, unaware that he’s about to shock her with an altogether less pleasant surprise of his own. Elsewhere, Janice struggles to cope with her guilt as Sally reveals that the police think Rosie’s gone on a spending spree with the lottery money. Meanwhile, John’s injured in an accident, making Fiz realise she still cares about him. Tonight’s second episode is at 8.30pm. The next programme might be of interest to John actually…

To Sir With Love: Tonight, ITV1, 8pm ~ Fiona Bruce asks if teachers should always be prosecuted for having relationships with their pupils and interviews a 16-year-old who now lives with her 50-year-old former RE teacher. Fiona examines whether in certain cases, abuse-of-trust laws have gone too far in criminalising teachers for errors of judgment.

EastEnders, BBC1, 8pm ~ Danielle makes a shocking discovery about Archie and Tony’s concerned by Whitney’s emotional state. Elsewhere, Billy struggles to deal with his conscience over Jase, Pat makes a gesture for Frank and Bradley has a surprise in store for Dot.

Dinosaur: A Time Team Special, Channel 4, 8pm ~
Tony Robinson and Phil Harding hit the highways of America on a road trip to some of the dinosaur capitals of the world. After joining a museum dig to excavate the bones of the T-Rex’s ancestor, they uncover the big bucks tourist industry that dinosaur hunting has spawned in the US. Their journey culminates in a trip to the Badlands, where they help dinosaur hunter Jack Horner dig up the remains of a T-Rex.

Place Of Execution, ITV1, 9pm ~ In the concluding part of this excellent drama, desperate to clear George’s name and prove that he wouldn’t stoop to falsifying evidence, Catherine returns to Scardale in search of the truth. Her investigations lead to a startling revelation and details of Hawkin’s trial and execution are revealed in flashbacks.

The Gadget Show, Five, 9pm ~
New series of the consumer technology show presented by Jason Bradbury, Suzi Perry, Dallas Campbell and Jon Bentley. Tonight, Jason and Suzi test different modes of personal transport and the latest in satellite navigation. Dallas meets a robotic spy and Jon and Suzi review personal entertainment gadgets.

Motorway Cops: A Traffic Cops Special, BBC1, 9pm ~
Fatal Consequences: In tonight’s show about the work of the men and women in the traffic police division, investigators try to determine the cause of an accident which has left an injured woman trapped in the wreckage of her car. Then they deal with an even more devastating motorway pile-up involving a 44-tonne lorry which leaves three people dead. Plus, a trucker tries to get the better of PC Nairn but finds the officer is not as convinced by his falsified driving records as he’d hoped.

Harry & Paul, BBC2, 10pm ~
Tonight, Alan Sugar meets the Dragons’ Den business experts and Jimmy Snazzbox – a prolific television writer in the 1970s – waxes lyrical about his hit series `Omni-busses’. Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse are also joined by Simon Day, Kate Robbins, Laura Solon and Sophie Winkleman.

Lucky Number Slevin, Channel 4, 10pm ~ Premiere of this film in which a case of mistaken identity plunges an ordinary man into the middle of a war between opposing crime syndicates. With no means of proving who he really is, he finds himself forced to pay off a friend’s debt to an underworld kingpin by assassinating a rival mobster. Starring Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Lucy Liu, Morgan Freeman and Ben Kingsley.

Real Crime: The Hunt for Mr Swirl, ITV1, 10.35pm ~ This programme documents the worldwide hunt for Canadian paedophile Christopher Neil, who was found living in Thailand when officers finally tracked him down by restoring digitally altered pictures of his face that had been posted on the Internet. The programme includes interviews with Neil’s friends and relatives.
