What’s On TV Tonight ~ Tuesday 14th October

Well I have to say that tonight’s TV isn’t hugely inspiring but we’ve rooted around the telly schedules to find you a few worth-watching shows, one of which is Nature Shock on Five at 8pm. Some of the footage and findings in this show are amazing and it’s well worth a look.

Here’s what else is on tonight…

Emmerdale, ITV1, 7pm ~
A frustrated Andy discharges himself from hospital and begins searching for Sarah, lashing out at anyone who stands in his way. After Daz witnesses him attack Jo and Debbie, the farmer sinks deeper into despair before Diane talks him into facing up to his problems. Shane goads Jake into hitting him by claiming to have slept with Jasmine and the lad finds himself facing a night in the cells.

Highland Emergency, Five, 7.30pm ~ The staff at Dr MacKinnon Memorial Hospital on the Isle of Skye anxiously await the arrival of an injured climber who’s been airlifted from the Cuillin mountains. Meanwhile, the crew of RAF Lossiemouth’s Rescue 137 set out to help a 19-year-old Dutch climber who fell down a ridge while walking on Ben Ledi. Fascinating series that follows medical services in some of the most beautiful but hostile terrain in Britain.

Eastenders, BBC1, 7.30pm ~ Zainab asks Masood to speak to Tamwar about his laptop use and Mo gets poor naive Danielle into trouble with the police. Jane and Tanya confide in each other and Ian discovers his wife is not a member of the gym. Max embarrasses Lauren with his drunken behaviour and Roxy warns Jack to stay away from Ronnie.

Nature Shock, Five, 8pm ~ Alien Ice Bear: This new series explores extraordinary finds in the animal world, which have shocked naturalists and scientific experts alike. This edition focuses on the story of a hunter and his Inuit guide, who were shocked to discover that a polar bear, which they’d tracked across the remote Banks Island in the Canadian Arctic, actually appeared to be an animal of an entirely unknown species.

Holby City, BBC1, 8pm ~ Mad World:
Lola’s shocked to find Abra is a patient at the psychiatric hospital where she’s recently been given a job, and plans to reunite him with Kyla. Ric is forced to face the reality of Leo’s life when he’s called to clear his flat and meets a drug-using friend of his late son, who leads him on a journey through the recent past.

The Sex Education Show, Channel 4, 8pm ~ In the final programme of the series, Anna Richardson organises a sex education class with a difference in which the inquisitive pupils will be tutored by their own parents. However, the unsuspecting teenagers discover they are not alone in their embarrassment, as their would-be teachers are asked to reveal their own sexual histories. Plus, Anna examines the inner workings of the libido.

Sunshine, BBC1, 9pm ~ Bernadette’s being driven to distraction by Bing’s gambling habit and throws him out, leaving him to seek refuge with his disapproving father. Finding himself in an all-too-familiar situation, Bing tries to win back his wife’s trust, but when it becomes clear she has no intention of forgiving him, Bing’s addiction spirals even further out of control. I’m not feeling the love for this show yet but with such an impressive cast, I’ll keep trying!

Cops With Cameras, ITV1, 9pm ~
This great series shows what life’s really like for the police on the streets of Britain. Tonight, officers in Oldham find themselves surrounded by an angry mob as they try to make an arrest and Sergeant Mike Peake is on the trail of a gang of scrap-metal thieves. In Torquay, PC Andy Gillette tries to track down a robber while Inspector Jo Jones raids the home of a suspected drug dealer in South Wales.

British Style Genius, BBC2, 9pm ~ A Cut Above - The Tailored Look: Favoured by the rich and famous, from Fred Astaire to James Bond, the tailored look of Savile Row has now become as popular abroad as it is at home. This fashion programme investigates as Roger Moore and Michael Caine tour some of the establishments that dressed them for their most famous roles, and discovers how the British sense of eccentricity still manifests itself in this most formal of fashion styles.

Dawn Porter: Geisha Girl, Channel 4, 10pm ~ Tonight, Dawn travels to Japan to uncover the truth about the geisha, the exotic Japanese courtesans who enchanted the Western world. Heading for Kyoto, Dawn enters into the painstaking tutelage of a celebrated madam. Once ‘qualified’, she’s unleashed on the unsuspecting businessmen who populate historic Gion, the once-renowned pleasure district of Kyoto seeking to regain its lost reputation.

Vinnie Jones’ Toughest Cops, ITV4, 10pm ~
Phillipines: ‘Ard man Vinnie Jones introduces this series which follows police at work in some of the world’s most dangerous locations. Murder, political unrest, armed robbery, drugs and terrorism are just part of everyday life in the Philippines. At the heart of the country lies Manila, a teeming metropolis of crime. Cameras follow the front line officers who police the dangerous slums of the city and SWAT cops tell how they hunted down and killed the country’s most wanted terrorist. Also, Manila’s homicide unit hunts the killers of two of their team.

Comedy Classics: Brass, ITV1, 10.35pm
~ Tonight’s episode in this series about classic sitcoms looks at the comedy show Brass, which was first aired in 1983 as a send up of Thatcherite Britain and the gritty values of the North of England. It starred a cast of classical actors headed by Timothy West as the formidable Bradley Hardacre, a capitalist tyrant who lorded it over the residents of the ‘grim up north’ village of Utterley. With contributions from Timothy West and writers Julian Roach and John Stevenson. Includes the first ever episode of the series.

Whatever you’re up to on this chilly Tuesday, have fun and we’ll see you tomorrow!
