What’s On TV Tonight ~ Wednesday 15th October
It’s another action packed Wednesday night on telly but as always on a Wednesday, my top recommendation is for The Family on Channel 4 at 9pm. I don’t know what I’ll do with myself when this series ends… I hope the Hughes’ have a blog or something that we can keep track of them with!
Here’s what’s good on the boxerooni tonight…
The Dog Whisperer, Sky 3, 7pm ~ Brady, Bandit and Hootie: In tonight’s show, the amazing dog whisperer Cesar deals with a labrador that’s obsessed with water, and he meets a chihuahua that won’t stop biting its own legs. It’s a bit like Supernanny for pooches.
Emmerdale, ITV1, 7pm ~ We’re back to incredibly stupid storylines and tonight, in one of the stupidest, Jamie and Louise rush to intervene when Brenda reveals that Bob’s planning to break into prison to see Viv… yeah, that often happens. Also, Victoria’s furious when she hears Diane revealing that Andy planned to kill himself and Jake resolves to get away from his problems by visiting his parents.
Coronation Street, ITV1, 7.30pm ~ As murder week jogs along tonight, Carla decides that she can’t go through with her marriage to Tony, but when it transpires Maria’s pregnant, she realises there’s no future for her with Liam. Fiz and John continue to get closer, and as Kevin imposes restrictions on Sophie to ensure her safety, the police reveal Rosie could be in serious trouble.
Sky Cops, BBC1, 8pm ~ Sparks Flying: Tonight’s episode sees gangs terrorising the streets of Peckham with fireworks, aiming rockets at each other and causing mayhem around them. The cops are also kept busy with stolen mopeds and motorbikes that are being used by thieves to snatch handbags. The helicopter police must also keep the peace at the annual Blackheath fireworks display. Narrated by Jamie Theakston.
Grey’s Anatomy, Living, 8pm ~ Haunt You Every Day: If you haven’t watched this show yet, now’s a good time to get into it. In tonight’s episode, halloween is full of surprises for the doctors of Seattle Grace. Alex receives an unexpected and welcome visit from a former patient, Meredith’s convinced that her mother’s ashes are haunting her and Cristina’s snubbed by a surgeon she admires.
Supernanny USA, Channel 4, 8pm ~ Jo Frost hops the pond tonight and intervenes in an American couple’s family life because they’re forced to sleep in separate beds by their three-year-old daughter. She demands to be breast fed whenever she pleases, and their two sons are continuously fighting, making the shortest car journeys unbearable.
The Family, Channel 4, 9pm ~ Teenage Kicks: Jane and Simon become locked in a battle of wills with daughter Emily, again, and as dawn rises on the Hughes household, the teenager returns home after another night on the town. A further all-night disappearing act fuels the tension, affecting the rest of the household. So will Simon finally win a battle or will he just accept that Emily won’t do what he says?
Wives, Sky 1, 9pm ~ Transvestite Wives: This new documentary series explores the lives of extraordinary wives and girlfriends – who are in relationships with gangsters, BNP members and polygamists – leaving them facing social prejudice because of the activities of their partners. The first episode features an insight into men who enjoy dressing like women and the women who share their lives.
Greatest Cities of the World with Griff Rhys Jones, ITV1, 9pm ~ London: We go on a whistle-stop tour of London with Griff tonight as he visits tourist attractions Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, together with lesser-known tourist venues; notably the macabre Necropolis Railway in Westminster Road. Other ports of call include Sotheby’s, St Paul’s Cathedral, Burlington Arcade and the city’s financial district as well as a late-night boxing club where brokers can work off their aggression in the ring.
Desperate Housewives, Channel 4, 10pm ~ Free: In the last of the current series, the day of Bob and Lee’s wedding arrives, but problems with the caterers threaten to scupper their plans. Gabrielle finds money hidden in Ellie’s teddy bear when her fugitive tenant asks for her possessions and Julie is accepted for a university place, leaving Susan to come to terms with her daughter flying the nest.
Mock The Week Again, BBC2, 10pm ~ Ed Byrne guests on the topical comedy quiz show in which regular panellists Frankie Boyle, Hugh Dennis, Andy Parsons and Russell Howard offer their opinions on world events of the past seven days. Dara O’Briain hosts this very funny show.
Fonejacker, E4, 10pm ~ Very funny comedy series in which a prankster adopts various guises to make hoax telephone calls to unsuspecting victims. His alter-egos include a character who talks in abbreviations, a confused old man and a dodgy car dealer.
Well, that’s it for tonight’s top telly picks but we’ll be back tomorrow. Have a good ‘un!
