What’s On TV Tonight ~ Wednesday 8th
Yippee! It’s ‘The Family’ night again on C4 at 9pm but we’re really spoilt for choice in the 9 o’clock slot again with Heroes and Silent Witness on too… thank Crunchie for Sky+ and online catch ups!
Here’s what else is on tonight…
Emmerdale, ITV1, 7pm ~ Andy fights for his life in the hospital as a furious Daz accuses Jo of causing the accident, and Diane finds out that Jo lied about being pregnant. Bob returns from his holiday and is annoyed that Brenda’s rearranged the shop and cafe in his absence while Anna’s pleased when she gets her own way.
Who Do You Think You Are? BBC2, 7pm ~ Series in which celebrities trace their ancestry and tonight, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen investigates a family legend that his ancestors were wealthy squires whose land was nefariously stolen. He looks into the life of his grandfather, a merchant sea captain, and discovers that during the First World War his ship was sunk by a German U-boat. Laurence also learns that his great-great grandfather was also a sea captain, but is shocked to find that he falsified his naval records to cover up a desertion.
Coronation Street, ITV1, 7.30pm ~ Motor mouth Janice is arrested and charged with fraud, prompting Roger to pack his bags and leave her. Liam agonises over his best man’s speech and Jason returns from Milan with his hopes dashed, while a horrified Becky begins to remember all the gruesome details of her drunken one-woman crime spree. There’s still no sign of Rosie but by the end of this month, we’ll know what happened to her and the street will be minus one resident!
Britain from Above, BBC4, 8pm ~ Andrew Marr goes on an epic journey through a day in the life of Britain, as seen from the skies. From helicopters, planes, hang gliders and satellites, he builds a picture of a nation constantly on the move with beautiful, varied and often mysterious landscapes. Swooping over towns and cities allows Andrew to see them from a new angle and he meets the people whose work takes them high above us to monitor and manage the networks that keep the country working.
Supernanny, Channel 4, 8pm ~ Supernanny Jo Frost is back helping more parents tame their ‘difficult’ children. Tonight, she comes to the aid of single mother-of-two Clare Dakin, who’s struggling to cope with her unruly kids.
The Restaurant, BBC2, 8pm ~ Takeaway: The remaining couples start their own takeaway service in an effort to reach out to the local community by offering restaurant meals that customers can eat at home. Chef Raymond Blanc, assisted by inspectors on the ground, must decide who’s made a success of their business and who needs to prove their restaurant is worth keeping open
The Family, Channel 4, 9pm ~ St Valentine’s Day Massacre: In another instalment of family life, Simon feels unsupported in his attempts to discipline the kids and takes out his frustration on everybody, but Jane hopes a Valentine’s Day meal will put a smile back to his face.
Heroes, BBC2, 9pm ~ The Butterfly Effect: Sylar, freshly armed with his formidable array of abilities, wages a one-man war against the Company’s main facility, but his explorations of the mysterious Level Five reveal more than he bargained for. Meanwhile, Angela clashes with a much-changed Peter over how to avert a worldwide catastrophe and Claire discovers something unexpected about her abilities. Heroes Unmasked follows this episode.
Silent Witness, BBC1, 9pm ~ Death’s Door - Part One: Harry befriends eager medical student Holly Farr after giving a lecture to a group of trainees and involves her in his latest case which is the post-mortem of a woman whose body was found at the side of a road with the face expertly removed. Nikki tries to reconstruct the victim’s features to help identify her, but Holly immediately recognises her as Fran Price - a former TV presenter and journalist who had fallen on hard times. Concludes tomorrow.
Desperate Housewives, Channel 4, 10pm ~ The Gun Song: The ladies of Wisteria Lane gather to meet Susan and Mike’s new baby, but the happy parents can’t agree on a name for the baby. Bree and Katherine go shooting while Gabby begins to bond with Ellie, the new tenant. Lynette is arrested after Kayla makes false allegations of ill-treatment and Wayne wonders whether Dylan really is his daughter.
Banged Up Abroad, Five, 10pm ~ Peru: In tonight’s first episode of this new series, we hear the story of Sarah Jackson from Milton Keynes who agreed to become a drugs courier to pay off a £3,000 debt. Jackson, along with a friend she had duped into helping her smuggle cocaine from Peru to the UK, was arrested at Lima airport and the pair were sent to different jails to await trial; one an easy-going women’s prison, the other an overcrowded all-male prison.
Surviving, Sky 2, 10pm ~ Dennis Nilsen: This fascinating documentary feature Carl Stotter, who survived an attack by Dennis Nilsen, and Martin Hunter Craig, the killer’s part-time flatmate. The pair recall their encounters with the killer and talk about how they came to terms with their experiences. Dennis Nilsen murdered fifteen men in London in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and kept their bodies hidden in his flat until he disposed of the remains.
