What Not To Wear – Sportswomen
Mica Paris and Lisa Butcher take on a physical challenge this week as they enter the tough and competitive world of semi-professional sportswomen – a world where feminine isn’t even part of people’s vocabulary, let alone anyone’s wardrobe.
Sharon Sulu plays basketball, football and Gaelic football to a very high level. Like many women, Sharon has a shoe fetish. But, rather than collecting Jimmy Choos, her wardrobe is crammed with over £1,500 worth of basketball trainers. And with a mortal fear of frocks, which goes back to being forced to wear dresses as a child, Sharon’s shopping habits centre on buying sportswear and she often buys two of everything – one for herself and the other for her brother, Mike.
Lisa and Mica take Sharon out of her sports gear and help her to find a more feminine look to show off her 6ft athletic figure. With her new look now complete, Sharon is ready to compete on the bar and club scene, as well as on the sports field.
Claire Donovan, meanwhile, has been playing rugby for over 10 years and is an experienced international player with almost 60 caps to her name. As the only female player on a men’s team, Claire has been given the unenviable nickname “Bernard” by her male team mates. With a muscular and defined body shape, due to her tough sporting regime, Claire finds it difficult to know what clothes to wear – preferring, instead, to stay in her training gear and an old fleece.
Taking her into the changing room, Mica and Lisa transform Claire with the help of some clever tailoring and flowing dresses. No longer worried that people will notice her shot putter’s shoulders, Claire is now getting compliments on her curves, and the boys from her rugby team are shocked to see this new side of “Bernard”.
