What’s not to love about the Geordie duo?? They’re funny, pretty to look at and I have to say, even though I’m old enough to be Declan’s – cough – big sister, I’ve always had rather a large crush on him. When he smiles and especially when he laughs, I can almost feel my underwear trying to part company with me just in case, by some three-wishes-miracle, he does indeed pop out of the telly and fall instantly in love with me.

The other two wishes cannot be discussed on this family orientated site… however, I’ll give you a clue; they involve a black suit, a darkened room and a sizeable tub of Häagen-Dazs…

So, let’s first of all have a squiz at Ant and Dec’s life stories, courtesy of their official ITV site’s biography page…

“Presenters Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have been working together since they were 13 years old. They met on the set of the BBC children’s drama, Byker Grove, where their meteoric rise to fame began – thanks to their breakthrough hit Let’s Get Ready To Rhumble.

Ant and Dec – aka the Grove’s PJ and Duncan – signed a record contract and Rhumbled the charts with an amazing a 14 Top 20 hits over four years.”

We’ll pause here to point and laugh at the boys in their Byker Grove/PJ and Duncan days… there’s also an appearance in this clip from our Valree from Emmerdale!

And here’s their first ‘meeting’ in Byker Grove…

And we cannot let this section of clips go by without the hideous Let’s Get Ready To Rumble…

Oh lordy that was fun! So back to the biography…

“After leaving Byker Grove, the boys enjoyed more success presenting The Ant & Dec Show and Channel 4’s Ant & Dec Unzipped. But it was on SM:TV Live and CD:UK that the pair struck a chord with a nation of Saturday morning TV fans, thanks to the mix of music, comedy and cartoons. Co-hosted by Cat Deeley, the show won 15 awards, and became the first Saturday morning show to beat their BBC rivals in six years.

In 2000, Ant and Dec signed an exclusive deal with ITV, which saw the Geordies team up with Simon Cowell on Pop Idol. And in 2002, the lads hosted their first primetime ITV1 show, Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway. The award-winning series has run for six years and is still going strong.”

Time for another quick break from the biography to watch the lads on Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway playing an undercover prank on Simon Cowell and the rest of the American Idol Judges…

Love it!

Back to the boys life history… “And yet there’s more! How could we forget the cheeky chaps’ jungle quips on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here? Not to mention their recent hits, Ant & Dec’s Gameshow Marathon and Pokerface.

Not content with their TV and chart success, the Geordie twosome became movie stars in 2006 with the release of their first feature, Alien Autopsy. The film took over £2million at the box office and was also a No.1 hit in the DVD charts.

Since their move back to peak time entertainment, Ant and Dec’s shows have won a staggering nine National Television Awards (including Most Popular Entertainment Presenters for the last six years in a row), six British Comedy Awards, two BAFTAs and a variety of other industry accolades. Not bad for a couple of tykes from the Tyne.”

Now let’s get to a whole batch of my favourite Ant & Dec bits…

This clip is from their ‘best bits’ on Britain’s Got Talent.

And this one is another Undercover that they pulled on Bradley Walsh…

This next clip is one of those that makes me do my ‘please Dec, jump out of the telly and at me’ moments…

And although this clip is poor quality, it’s both funny and Dec’s sooooooo cute in it with those puppy dog eyes!

The fact is, they’re both hilarious, they’re both gorgeous – though as you’ll have gathered, Dec’s my main fantasy… I mean my favourite – and they are both just genuinely nice blokes! I also love the Geordie accent so if I were to be stranded on a desert island and had to choose just two companions – sorry husband and kids – it would be Ant and Dec with of course a crate of Häagen-Dazs!

You can see the boys – who are back on our screens, praise be – in Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, coincidentally enough on Saturday at 7:45pm on ITV1 when they’ll be joined by American songstress Katy Perry performing her new single ‘Waking Up in Vegas’.

And in Ant vs Dec: The Teams, our celebrity team members face a challenge in the great outdoors. Plus, in brand new feature for this series, Escape From Takeaway Prison, the 12 remaining prisoners will be reduced to nine. There’ll be fun and messing around with Clowning Around, their brand new Grab the Ads game. And one lucky member of the studio audience will be given the chance to play for the contents of the commercial breaks as always.

Don’t miss it!
