Thanks Lynn…I think the writers want everyone to not know. I came to the conclusion that maybe the family would only hear him if it was basic words he said, the kind of words babies of that age would normally say. Maybe I’m spending too much time thinking about it hehe…

My fave clip of Stewie is where he goes into the bedroom where Lois is and starts saying “mum, mummy, mom, mummy” loads until she snaps and then he runs off. Is the funniest clip of the show by far. Love it! Is on YouTube if you want to look it up! Cracks me up every single time!

Hi Simon, well, I’ve tried to find out exactly what the situation is over Stewie and it seems that the writers are selective about when he’s heard by adults and when he’s not. For instance, in an episode on BBC3 the other night, he was working in a fast food joint and the manager heard and understood him, but there again, most of the time, some of the family seem to hear him but it could just be from what Brian says on his behalf or Stewie’s actions…

FG is amazing. Never fails to make me laugh, even when BBC 3 keep showing the same episodes from time to time.

Yay!! Family Guy is by far the best program on television. I can never get enough of it and am laughing all the way through. I think stewie is the best character ever created, closely followed by Peter! I am so glad you did this article!!

Just one question though…can the adults hear Stewie…I don’t think they can but some say they can, some say they can’t. I wish I knew! Any ideas?
