William Shatner says Stars Wars movies aren’t a patch on Star Trek

Veteran actor William Shatner reckons that the Star Wars movies aren’t a patch on the original Star Trek, which aired in the 1960s.

William, who of course played Captain Kirk, also claimed that the movies were a “derivative” of Star Trek, and while comparing the two, added, “Star Trek had relationships and stories that involved humanity and philosophical questions.

“Star Wars was special effects.”

80 year old William also had a dig at actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia in the Star Wars films.

He said, “She can’t compare to the marvellous heroines we had on Star Trek.”
