This January Sky One launches an intriguing insight into some of Britain’s most interesting Wives. This observational documentary series will examine the lifestyles and lifestyle choices that exist today through the stories of couples from five different worlds.
The first documentary is Transvestite’s Wives where each couple has a third person in their relationship. Robyn is married to Dean and Deanne, Sam lives with Chris and Rachel and Sheila is married to Dennis and Denise. Each wife explains how they have come to terms with their partner’s lifestyles and how, together, they battle social stigmatism.
BNP Wives paints a startling picture of the lives of women who married into, and work for, the British National Party. In Fareham, the BNP ladies protest against the building of a mosque, while the BNP’s female contingent in Rotherham prepare for a by-election.
Teenage Wives meets the teens who have married young and those that have married much older partners. This includes 17-year-old Faye, who is engaged to and having a baby with 48-year-old Paul, who is three times her age and born in the same year as her mother. In this film, the wives attempt to set aside the stigma of the age gap and declare that love is love, no matter what the age.
Gangsters’ Wives brings together the women who are attracted to bad boys. Wives living on the Costa del Crime and in the UK speak about the men in their life and share their feelings on the aphrodisiac of danger.
Finally Polygamists’ Wives, reveals what life is like for the women who are happy to share their husband.
Wives begins on Sky One at 9pm on Thursday January 10th.
