This July, London plays host to the world premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 and Sky today announce plans to air this spectacular red carpet event live and in 3D, on Sky 3D.
Fans are expected in their thousands at the premiere of the final instalment of the Harry Potter franchise, which will see the film’s cast, creators and guests walk the red carpet in Trafalgar Square, before making their way to Leicester Square’s cinemas to watch the film.
The premiere, organised by Warner Bros., is the first ever to be held in Trafalgar Square and Sky’s live coverage of this epic event will be the first live 3D TV broadcast of a film premiere.
With eight strategically-placed 3D cameras capturing every A-list arrival on the 3,000m2 red carpet, Sky viewers will be granted unrivalled access to this magical event from the comfort of their own homes.
Anchored by Sky Movies host Alex Zane and TV and radio presenter Edith Bowman, Sky will broadcast approximately 3 hours of live, uninterrupted 3D coverage from one of the biggest film premieres to ever take place in the UK.
Production of this live TV event requires two satellite trucks and a crew of fifty.
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies comments: “The Harry Potter movies have continued to delight audiences across the globe for a decade and the world premiere of the final instalment is without doubt one of the most eagerly anticipated events in film history. By broadcasting the premiere live in 3D, Sky will grant viewers beyond-the-barrier access to what promises to be an extraordinary event.”
Directed by David Yates, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 opens in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on July 15th 2011.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 Premiere Live will air on Thursday 7th July on Sky 3D from 4pm.
