Brad Pitt has spoken in an interview and confirmed that discussions have been held regarding a ‘World War Z’ movie sequel.
‘World War Z’ was released in cinemas earlier this year and starred Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz. The movie received mixed reviews from the critics but seemed positive on the whole.
The movie follows Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), a United Nations employee who has to save the world from the impending zombie pandemic that over powers armies, governments and even threatens to destroy humanity in an extremely short period of time.
Lane who is with his family at the time is then sent half way around the world to find answers for a cure before it’s too late.
Brad Pitt has spoken recently with Variety and has said that he would be extremely interested in a sequel: “We’re certainly talking about it, yeah,” Pitt said. “We have so many ideas on the table from just the time we spent developing this thing and figuring out how zombie worlds work.”
The movie star added: “We have so many ideas and so much information, we think we have a lot of stuff to mine from. We’re going to do our best and see what we get out of it.
“We gotta get the script right first to determine if we go further.”
Mireille Enos, Pitt’s co-star also spoke about her interest in a sequel: “We’ll wait and see how the script turns out, but yes, I’d love to come back.”
The zombie movie since being released in cinemas has earned a global total of over $500 million (£323 million) and has become Pitt’s highest grossing movie of all time.
World War Z was intended to become a trilogy but due to the original movie requiring several reshoots the idea was placed onto the shelf.
